Flying up from Yangon to the colonial port town of Sittwe (formerly Akyab and birthplace of the author Saki) the highlights of this four day trip are the river trip into darkest, lost Arakan and explorations of the superb monuments and sculptures found at Mrauk-Oo. The 15th-18th century capital of the independent Buddhist state of Arakan, the unique art and architecture of Mrauk-Oo is a synchronism of South-East Asian and Indian art. Hotels are basic and this trip is for the serious, intrepid traveler only.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Yangon - Sittwe - Mrauk. After breakfast at hotel, transfer to airport for fly to Sittwe - the capital of Western Rakhine State. Arrival at Sittwe, transfer to Jetty and boat trip to Mrauk Oo – this 15th century ancient city of Rakhine kingdom is known for its old temples with wall paintings of Indian Cultural influence. Lunch on board. Arrive at Mrauk Oo and transfer to hotel. Dinner and Overnight at hotel in Mrauk Oo. Includes: (B), (L), (D).

Day 2: Mrauk Oo. After breakfast at hotel, visit to Shitthaung Pagoda, Dukkanthein Pagoda, Andawthein Shrine, Kothein Pagoda. Lunch at a restaurant. After lunch, visit to the archaeological Museum on the ground of ruined palace, Bandoola Monastery Museum. Then proceed to Harretaung Hill for sunset. Dinner and overnight at hotel in Mrauk Oo. Includes: (B), (L), (D).

Day 3: Mrauk Oo - Sittwe by boat. After breakfast at hotel, morning visit to Mrauk Oo Market, Mro Village Palace Side, Museum. Then transfer to Jetty for back to Sittwe by boat. Lunch on board. Arrive to Sittwe and transfer to hotel. Visit to View Point Beach for sunset. Dinner at local restaurant. Overnight at hotel in Sittwe. Includes: (B), (L), (D).

Day 4: Sittwe - Yangon. After breakfast at hotel, transfer to airport for flight to Yangon via Thandwe. You can stop off here on a per night basis at our partner resort. On returning to Yangon you will be transfered to a hotel of your choice. Includes: (B).
