Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Upon early morning arrival in Lima, transfer to your domestic flight to Puerto Maldonado. Reception at Puerto Maldonado's airport and transfer to the river side boat docks for your trip down the Madre de Dios River to the Heath River (border of Peru and Bolivia). Arrival in mid afternoon at the Heath River Wildlife Center. Accommodations in private bungalow with full board.

Days 2-3: Heath River Wildlife Center. Amazon primary rain forest: miles of well-defined forest trails provide exciting viewing of a variety of animals, birds and flora. The elusive Jaguar roams the forest while Dusky Titi Monkeys chase through the trees. The Heath River, running from the Andes surrounding Lake Titikaka northward to the Madre de Dios River, is the natural border between Peru and Bolivia. Here the Esa Eja Sonene Community of indigenous Indians live, an ethnic group belonging to either of two lines: the Tacana-speaking Arawak, who migrated from the west, and those of Pano origin, who come from the lower reaches of the Madera River.

A short distance from the community is one of the most important Macaw Clay Licks of Peru, a natural attraction visited by thousands of parrots and Macaws. A strategically placed floating blind allows visitors a safe and comfortable view of the early morning gathering of parrots and macaws in their quest to eat mineral-rich clay from an exposed area of the riverbank.

Caimans, Horned Screamers, capybara, and anacondas frequent the river shores. Giant Otters hunt for fish in the nearby lakes. For all those who yearn for the very best Amazon adventure, the Heath River Wildlife Center awaits your visit for a lifetime of memories.

Day 4: Sandoval Lake Lodge. After lunch river trip to Sandoval Lake Lodge. Afternoon arrival at the lodge's dock on the Madre de Dios River. To reach Sandoval Lake walk or ride in our rickshaws for 45 minutes along two miles (3 km) of flat, rain forest trail. Sandoval Lake is considered by rain forest specialists as the best and most attractive lake in the Peruvian rain forest. Accommodations with full board. The Giant Otter, or "river wolf", hunt for fish in Sandoval Lake for an exciting display of one of the world's rarest and most endangered mammal species. Blue-and-gold and Red-bellied Macaws inhabit the flooded palm forest on the west end of Sandoval Lake. Brown Capuchin, Bolivian Squirrel, Red Howler, Saddle-backed Tamarin, and Night monkeys live in the forests surrounding the lake.

Day 5: Sandoval Lake Lodge to Cusco. Following breakfast, a short river trip to Puerto Maldonado to board your flight for Cusco. Cusco/Sacred Valley of the Incas. Arrival, reception and transfer to hotel. Morning at leisure to adjust to the altitude. Afternoon City tour and visit the nearby ruins of Kenko, Puca-Pucara, Tambomachay and the Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman.

Day 6: Full day tour visiting the Pisac indian market and Ollantaytambo Fortress. Lunch included. Overnight at your hotel in the Sacred Valley.

Day 7: Machu Picchu. Morning transfer to Ollanta station to board the train to the town of Aguas Calientes. Hotel checkin.

Day 8: Morning visiting the ruins of the Machu Picchu citadel followed by lunch. Afternoon return to Cusco by VistaDome train. Arrival, reception and transfer to your hotel.

Day 9: Cusco-Lima. Transfer to the airport to board the domestic flight to Lima. Arrival, and transfer to selected hotel. City tour and visit the Archaeological Museum. Overnight at your hotel.
