For those eager to explore the mysterious domain of the Incas we invite you to have an incredible Ayahuasca experience. This includes Cusco, capital of the Incas, the mysterious lost city of Machu Picchu, and the dark Amazon jungle. You will also visit one of our native Amazon Shamans in the forest of Peru! You could not ask for a more mysterious voyage.
First you will walk through the jungle around the pristine area of Puerto Maldonado where you have an appointment with our specially selected shaman! After having experienced the Amazon jungle and the shaman you will now journey to mysterious Cusco, capital of the Incas who founded the largest empire in the Americas, stretching from Chile to Ecuador. Then you will continue to the legendary lost city of Machu Picchu, a magical place where you will feel the Incas’ energy, no word can describe such a unique experience! Machu Picchu is a United Nations World Heritage site.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Lima. At your arrival at Lima airport (at any time), you will be met by one of our English-speaking representatives and driven to your hotel in Miraflores, the safest and nicest area of the city.
Day 2: Flight Lima Puerto Maldonado (Tambopata Reserve). Early morning: transfer from your hotel to Jorge Chavez Airport to board your flight to Puerto Maldonado. Reception at the airport, transfer to Peruvian Safari's office to prepare for the river trip and boarding of our motorized dugout canoes. Depending on the hour we will have either a box lunch on the boat or lunch at arrival to the Explorers Inn. During the trip we may see Caymans, turtles and waterfowl, etc. After approximately 3 hours we will arrive at the Explorers Inn lodge where we will be received with a welcome drink. We are now deep inside pristine rain forest and surrounded by its sounds.
After a short rest we will have a short hike to a small lagoon and return in time to enjoy a jungle sunset at Sunset Point. After returning to the lodge we will board the canoe again for a short night ride to spot Caymans on the riverbanks with flashlights. After returning we will have dinner, at which the Resident Naturalists (RNs) and guides will be available to answer questions or brief us on the Amazon rain forest. Includes: (B, L, D)
Day 3: Tambopata Reserve. After an early breakfast, led by one of our guides, we will start a 3½ miles hike to Cocococha oxbow lake. On the way we will observe exotic plants and insects, colourful butterflies and birds, monkeys and, with luck, perhaps even some of the large mammals. At the lake a guide and canoes will be available for a ride to watch the giant river otters and the wildlife on the shoreline. Return to the Explorers Inn for a late lunch. Afternoon: free for relaxing or independent activities. Includes: (B, L, D)
Day 4: Tambopata Reserve-Flight Puerto Maldonado Cusco. Very early morning: wake up and breakfast. Boarding of the canoe to return to Puerto Maldonado watching an unforgettable dawn on the Tambopata river. Transfer to the airport for flight to Cusco. Arrival at Cusco airport & transfer to your Hotel. 14:00: Guided tour of Cusco (11,000 ft). We will have a guided tour of Cusco & visit the four nearby Inca Ruins: Sacsayhuaman, with its massive walls, Qenko, site of carved living rock, Puca Pucara, an Inca lodging Site & Tambo Machay, known as the Baths of the Inca. Our expert guides will make sure you get the most of these special places. Overnight in Cusco. Includes: (B)
Day 5: Full day excursion to Machu Picchu, the lost city (8,200 ft). Morning: Transfer from your Hotel to Ollantaytambo train station & departure to Aguas Calientes (the base town of Machu Picchu). Short bus journey to Machu Picchu. In many ways today is the climax to your holiday. You will have a guided tour of the most amazing & mysterious of all Inca Sites. You will learn about the history of this site, who lived there, how it was discovered in modern times and why the Spaniards never found it. You will have some insight into the various features of the city and after that you will have some free time to really enjoy yourself alone in this spectacularly located site. This is an unforgettable experience that will stay with you forever. Afternoon: Train journey back to Cusco (11,150 ft). Arrival in Cusco & transfer to your Hotel. Includes: (B, L)
Day 6: Flight Cusco Lima. Morning: Transfer from your Hotel to Cusco airport & departure to Lima. Arrival at Lima International Airport and private transfer to the tourist bus station for bus journey to Ica. Afternoon: Arrival in Ica & transfer to your Hotel. Includes: (B)
Day 7: Flight over Nasca Lines from Ica airport. Morning: transfer from your hotel to Ica airport to take the flight over the fantastic Nasca Lines for panoramic views of a monkey, a fish, a spider, a hummingbird and many drawings and geometric figures on the desert visible only from the air. The mystery of these huge figures in the desert continues even today. Afternoon: Tourist bus journey Ica - Lima. Evening: arrival in Lima and transfer to your Hotel. Includes: (B)
Day 8: Lima Tour-International Departure. Am: After breakfast, we will drive you downtown into the city of the Kings; our English speaking guide will help you to get to know the Plaza de Armas, with the baroque cathedral, the Palacio de Gobierno (Governors Palace), the Archbishop's Palace with its big carved wooden balconies, and the convent of San Francisco, whose bright yellow facade covers a grisly secret. Underneath the convent lie extensive catacombs that served as the cemetery for the whole of Lima during the colonial period! Transfer at any time from your Hotel to the airport for your flight back home.
