The capital of the eastern Indian state of Orissa has many sites worth visiting. Many of the Hindus and the Buddhist flock to the city, a religious center. Besides the great Hindu temples stand Buddhist shrines in and around the city of Bhubaneswar. The triangle of ancient Buddhist monuments at Lalitgiri, Ratnagiri and Udaigiri at a distance of 90 kilometers from Bhubaneshwar form yet another golden triangle of eastern India. At a distance of 8 kilometers from the city amidst the peaceful and serene environments lies the great Buddhist shrine of Dhauli. The pilgrim spot is renowned for its rock edicts of Ashoks. At the spot after the Kalinga victory in the year 261 BC that Ashoka, the Mauryan emperor adopted non-violence and took to Buddha’s teachings of non-violence.
Konark: The sacred city of Konark is a vital destination of the Golden Triangle circuit of Eastern India besides Bhubaneswar and Puri. The Sun Temple remains the landmark of Konark for which the city is renowned throughout the world. The city of Konark is a visual masterpiece. At a distance of 65 km from Bhubaneswar, near the sacred city of Puri, is the great Sun Temple of Konark making the small triangle of holiday destinations for the tourists to Orissa.
Your Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival at Bhubaneshwar. Drive to Puri. Overnight at Puri.
Day 2: City tour of Puri including the visit of Jagannath Temple, Fishermen’s village and Artisan’s villages near by. Overnight at Puri.
Day 3: Drive to Bhubaneshwar en route visiting Konark Sun Temple. Afternoon visit of Temples at Bhubaneshwar. Overnight at Bhubaneshwar.
Day 4: Visit of the Temples and Caves at Bhubaneshwar. Departure transfer for onward connection.
