Our first stop on this incredible classic tour will lead us through the ancient city of Lhasa. This wondrous city is generally regarded as the heart of Tibet and is filled with unparalleled history, culture, and beauty. The Potala Palace dominates the skyline with its powerful and ancient architecture. The numerous temples and monasteries surrounding the city, such as the Jokhang and Drepung, allow travelers to experience Tibetan Buddhism first hand. A visit to these ancient monasteries will leave you with a sense of astonishment for years to come!

First rate accommodation will be provided in the Dhood Gu Hotel, a traditional Tibetan hotel located conveniently close to nearly all major attractions in Lhasa. It is not easy to get bored in Lhasa as there is so much to see and explore. What an incredible experience it will be!

All our traveling will be done in four wheel drive Toyota Land cruisers. Our informative and welcoming guides will lead you through this amazing country of Tibet. Stops will be made along the way in the small towns of Gyantse, Shigatse, and Tsethang. Allow yourself to relax in these extraordinary towns and immerse yourself in the rich Buddhist culture. The last part of our journey is spent exploring the Yarlun Valley, or valley of the tombs. You can learn a lot from these Tibetan people. It will be even easier to enjoy Tibet as nothing but the best Tibetan hotels will be provided for you.

Your Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Lhasa by train or air. Once you arrive at Gonggar airport or Lhasa Train Station, an easy one hour or half hour drive will take you to your final destination of the traditional Dhood Gu Hotel or Yak Hotel or Shangbala Hotel, Kailash Hotel,etc. The remainder of the day can be spent relaxing and exploring some of the many sights in Lhasa. Please be aware of that you can take overland train tours from China side, and of course you can enter Tibet by air.

Day 2: In Lhasa. On this second day morning we will take an easy visit to Jokhang Temple. This temple is the most revered shrine in all of Tibet and is constantly bustling with devout worshipers. We will also be given the opportunity to shop in Barkor, the crowded central market of Lhasa. In the afternoon we will visit is Sera Monastery, a fifteenth century sprawl of golden roofs and whitewashed walls. This well preserved monastery is located just a few miles North of Lhasa and is home to several hundred monks. its famous debating activities are happening 3-4 pm quite regularly every day, so remind our guide not to miss it.

Day 3: In Lhasa. A trip to Tibet would not be complete without experiencing the vital Potala Palace. This palace is Lhasa's cardinal landmark and is a wonder of Eastern architecture. Your first site of this massive structure will be a magical moment remembered for years to come. It has been a palace since the fifth or sixth century and was once home to the Dalai Lama. This truly amazing day will ended with a visit to the Drepung Monastery. Once the world's largest monastery, housing 10.000 monks, Drepung monastery lies hidden in rocky ridges just beyond the city. Surprisingly much of the building was left untouched throughout so many hundred of years.

Day 4: Lhasa to Gyantse then to Xigatse. Today's trip is little bit demanding but fascinating, we will cross two high passes over 5000m Khambo La and Kharo La plus one beautiful Lake - Yamdrok Tso provide wondrous views of the Himalayan range. A colossal glacier rises nearly straight up from the road as we pass Kharo La. The drive is no daunting task as we pass through many more beautiful Tibetan valleys and quiet villages along the way. When reach Gyantse, We will be given the opportunity of experiencing more wondrous Tibetan culture as we see the Gyantse Dzong and Kumbum.

Expansive views of the valley can be seen from the ancient Dzong fort. The Kumbum is much more than a stupa, as it is surrounded by numerous Tibetan murals and small chapel houses. Even if you are no art connoisseur you will be amazed by these ancient murals and architecture. After the visit in Gyantse we will continue another one and half an hour easy drive to Xigatse, the second largest city in Tibet, overnight stay will be at the best Tibetan Mansarover Hotel.

Day 5: Xigatse sightseeing then back to Lhasa. Today we will visit the giant Tashilungpo Monastery, local carpet factory, the free market, it is very intriguing to see how ancient Tibetan culture compares to the modern day culture we will experience. There are endless amounts of sights, both modern and ancient, to see around this city. The day will end with a relaxing drive back to Lhasa, back to our Dhood Gu Hotel.

Day 6: Drive to Tsethang visit Samye En-route. Today we will through the Gangpo Ri Mountain on the way to Tsethang cross the widest part of Yarlung Zangpo River and visit the first Monastery in Tibet Samye Monastery, 2 hours on a local boat just to cross the River and another half an hour by local tractor or truck to finally reach Samye. The day will end in the third largest city of Tibet, Tsethang. We will stay in the best hotel in town Tsetang Hotel.

Day 7: Visit The Valley of the old civilization - Yarlung Valley.
This majestic area is widely believed to be the cradle of all of Tibetan civilization, the birth place of Tibetan People. A birds eye view down from the Yungbulakang Palace, an amazing architectural site perched on a cliff give you most wonders of how ancient Tibetan People live in such a peaceful wide open valley. A visit to Tibetan kings tombs, the massive burial grounds and unique antique looking Tanddruk Monastery leave you a dream of its passed glory. It is one of the oldest buildings in all of Tibet! You will spend your last night sleeping well back in Tsethang.

Day 8: Fly back to Kathmandu. Early morning departure for Gongka Airport, this remarkable flight last only an hour while crossing the Himalayan range. As you may expect the striking mountain views surround you the entire time. An amazing way to end a life-changing journey! Come join us in this land of religion and history!

Note: You can start this trip entering from Kathmandu, in Nepal side, as well as from Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Canton (Guangzhou), Chongqing, Kuming, Xian, Xining, etc. Please choose the way into Lhasa as per your convenience.
