Guyana’s 6th Pakaraima Mountain Safari, the adventure of a lifetime commences Thursday April 9th 2009 and ends on April 20th.
The Safari aims at making Guyanese and other citizens of other lands aware of the country’s natural diversity and shows off Guyana as a paradise for birdwatchers and a sanctuary for nature and adventure lovers.
The Pakaraima Mountain Safari is one of those special annual activities which are a truly unique experience to have.
The Safari will begin at the National Culture Centre Tarmac, proceeds to Linden then on to Kurupukari, to Surama Amerindian Village, to Annai, Karasabai unto to Orinduik waterfalls on the Ireng River which is the border with Brazil. After a splendid tour of the area your return trip will commence.
Attractions on the way to Karasabai and on the return trip from Orinduik include Linden (The Bauxite Mining Town), Mabura, entry to the forest belt the Demerara Woods Concession, Kurupukari cattle trails, Fairfield Amerindian village with historical artifacts, Annai the Iwokarama Canopy walkway, Surama village and the North Rupununi Savannahs.
The Safari will also pass through a number of Amerindian villages. The Pakaraimas have some of the most beautiful geological features to be experience in the Guyana’s and this frontier is blessed with a wide range of flora and Fauna and the rich history of our indigenous people is evident throughout the regions.
