Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1: Saturday -Frankfurt - USA
Depart from your home city for your overnight flight to Frankfurt.
Day 2: Sunday - Frankfurt - Ruedesheim - Rhine Cruise - Heidelberg - Wiesloch
Depart from Frankfurt in the morning and drive to Ruedesheim, famous for its wines and vineyards. Take a short Rhine cruise, passing romantic castles, continuing by motorcoach to Heidelberg where we visit the inner courtyard of the impressive castle and its wine cellar. Enjoy a walking tour of the beautiful old university town. In the evening share a welcome dinner and welcome drink with your fellow travelers. Overnight in Wiesloch at Hotel Palatin, or similar. Day 3: Monday - Wiesloch - Black Forest - Lake Constance
After breakfast depart for the Black Forest, a region known for cuckoo clocks, passing through the town of Triberg and by Lake Titisee. Arrive at the north shore of Lake Constance in the afternoon and enjoy a walking tour of picturesque Lindau. From here it is just a few minutes to Bregenz – well known for its annual famous summertime festival held during July/August. Overnight in Bregenz at Hotel Messmer, or similar. Includes: (B).
Day 4: Tuesday - Lake Constance - Neuschwanstein Castle - Garmisch
Today we travel to the Allgäu, part of the picturesque Bavarian Alps. In Hohenschwangau we visit the fairy tale castle of King Ludwig II, Neuschwanstein. Stop at another architectural treasure, the glorious Rococo style pilgrimage church of Wies. In the late afternoon we arrive in the Olympic town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, then overnight at the Hotel Obermühle, or similar. Includes: (B).
Day 5: Wednesday - Garmisch - Linderhof Castle - Oberammergau - Ettal - Munich
Lesser known but even more beautiful than Neuschwanstein, is Linderhof Castle which you will visit this morning. Continue to Oberammergau, home of the famous Passion Play which is performed only once every 10 years, most recently in the year 2000. After a stop at the Benedictine Monastery of Ettal, it’s on to Munich. The late afternoon and evening is at your leisure to explore Munich on your own, or you can join the optional “Bavarian Evening“1 at the famous Hofbraeuhaus, which includes dinner and entertainment. Overnight at Hotel Erzgiesserei, or similar. Includes: (B).
Day 6: Thursday - Munich - Nuremberg
This morning we take an extensive tour of Munich, which covers the important sights this splendid Bavarian capital offers, including Nymphenburg Palace. In the afternoon, enjoy the historic city of Nuremberg, with its unique medieval city center during a walking tour of the city’s highlights. Stop at the Reichspartei-tagsgelände, courtroom 600 of the famous Nuremberg Trials and more upbeat locations such as gingerbread-bakeries and Bratwurst stands. Overnight at DERAG Hotel Maximillian, or similar. Includes: (B).
Day 7: Friday - Nuremberg - Castle Road - Rothenburg
After breakfast drive along the Castle Road to the Romantic Road. Arrive in Rothenburg around noon. A walking tour of this charming town will follow, which includes a visit to the Jakobskirch, known for the famous altar created by Tilman Riemenschneider. Afterwards, you are free to explore the city on your own. In the evening enjoy the farewell dinner at your hotel. Overnight at Hotel Tilman Riemenschneider. Includes: (B), (D).
Day 8: Saturday Rothenburg - Wuerzburg - Frankfurt
Early in the morning, depart for Wuerzburg. Enjoy a tour of the magnificent Residence, a masterpiece of German Baroque architecture. Arrive in Frankfurt this afternoon. Overnight at a Frankfurt hotel. Includes: (B).
Day 9: Sunday - Frankfurt - USA
Enjoy breakfast before checking out of your hotel. Return home today. Includes: (B).
