Tour Itinerary: Day 1: USA - Frankfurt. Depart from the United States on a regular scheduled flight to Frankfurt. Day 2: Frankfurt - Wuerzburg - Rothenburg. Depart from Frankfurt in the morning for a picturesque drive through the Spessart mountains to Wuerzburg, on the banks of the river Main. Enjoy a guided tour of the magnificent Residence, a masterpiece of Baroque architecture and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Move along the world-famous Romantic Road to Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Germany’s well-preserved “Jewel of the Middle Ages.” During a city walk, visit St. Jacob’s Church with the Holy Blood Altar by Tilman Riemenschneider, and experience the special flair of this unique town. Leisure time before dinner at your hotel. Cap off the evening with an unforgettable tour with the Night Watchman. Overnight stay at Hotel Eisenhut or similar. Includes: (D). Day 3: Rothenburg - Augsburg - Munich. Today you continue your trip along the Romantic Road, visiting the charming villages of Dinkelsbuehl and Noerdlingen before arriving in Augsburg. Then you go on to Munich, the capital of Bavaria. An orientation tour including Nymphenburg Castle and the Olympic Grounds will give you a first impression of this splendid city before you check in to your hotel. Enjoy an afternoon walk to the "Glockenspiel" (carillon) at Marienplatz and then an evening free for your own activities. Overnight stay at Hotel Rivoli or similar. Includes: (B). Day 4: Munich – Garmish-Partenkirchen – Ettal - Oberammergau - Fuessen. Depending on weather conditions this day, you will drive to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, one of the most important wintersport towns in southern Germany, situated at the foot of "Zugspitze" mountain. You will then go on to the Benedictine abbey of Ettal and to Oberammergau, a village famous for its Passion Play and numerous buildings with tromp l’oeil (Lueftlmalerei) painted facades. On the way to today’s ultimate destination, Fuessen, you will also make a short stop at the glorious Rococo church in Wies. Overnight stay at the Luitpoldpark-Hotel or similar. Includes: (B). Day 5: Fuessen – Hohenschwangau – Linderhof – Rottenbuch - Fuessen. From Fuessen it is only a short trip to Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein, the breathtaking fairytale castle of King Ludwig II. After a guided visit there, continue to Linderhof on a scenic Alps tour through Austria. Visit the monastery church Rottenbuch, a treasure of Rococo architecture, before returning to Fuessen. Overnight stay at the Luitpoldpark-Hotel or similar. Includes: (B). Day 6: Fuessen - Lindau - Lake Constance. In the morning, head to Lake Constance, a large body of water bordered by Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Enjoy a walking tour of the beautiful village of Lindau before continuing on to Konstanz. Today you enter the Black Forest, a region known for delicious cake, wooden cuckoo clocks, and spectacular landscapes. Enjoy a drive through the beautiful countryside towards the idyllic town of Freiburg. After a city tour, continue on to Heidelberg, where you will see the inner courtyard of the impressive castle and the wine cellar with its big barrel. Leave Heidelberg in the early morning for the Upper Middle Rhine Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its wines and vineyards. Board a steamer in Ruedesheim for a Rhine river cruise that will take you past fascinating castles, ruins and the legendary Loreley Rock.
