Day 1: Arrival in Souillac
Located on the Dordogne river, Souillac is often considered the gateway to "Perigord Noir." It is the perfect starting point for a discover tour of "Black Perigord." It is also conveniently located whether you arrive by train or by car. There you will be welcomed by our local expert who will brief you on the itinerary and hand you all the necessary materials. Dinner and overnight in Souillac.
Day 2: Souillac - Salignac (28 km or 17 miles)
Today's itinearary will take you through the authentic Perigord, away from the crowds and the busloads of tourists. On your way, the Gardens of Eyrignac and their magnificent views over the area wil be a welcome stop. Your destination is Salignac, a typical Perigord village with its medieval castle. Dinner and overnight in Salignac.
Day 3: Salignac - Les Eyzies (45 km or 28 miles)
You'll discover the quaint village of Saint Geniès before reaching the Valley of the Vézère River and its remarkable prehistoric sites. Les Eyzies, is the world capital of Prehistoric times. A number of caves adorned with paintings can be visited. To preserve these jewels, the number of visitors is limited. We'll assist you with making a reservation. Dinner and overnight in Les Eyzies.
Day 4: Day of many options
You may use your day to visit some of the numerous grottoes of the area or you may choose to ride a short loop to the small town of Le Bugue on the Vézère river. Dinner and overnight in Les Eyzies.
Day 5: Les Eyzies - Vitrac (34 km or 21 miles)
You'll leave the valley of the Beune river. Following your detailed itinerary, you will bicycle through sceneries of a great beauty all the way to Sarlat, the capital of Perigord Noir. Make sure to take a stroll through its medieval center, considered Europe's biggest. A few miles from there, Vitrac will welcome you for the night. Dinner and overnight in Vitrac.
Day 6: Loop around Vitrac
Vitrac is the perfect location to ride to the area's many treasures. Your itinerary will take you to Beynac, la Roque Gageac, and Domme, three villages that belong to the exclusive club of France's prettiest villages (Un des Plus Beaux Villages de France). Dinner and overnight in Vitrac.
Day 7: Vitrac - Souillac (32 km or 20 miles)
Let the Dordogne river guide you! It will lead you to Souillac. This very pleasant ride will conclude this memorable week. Dinner and overnight in Souillac.
Day 8: Departure from Souillac
After breakfast, depart Souillac at the time of your choice.
