Escape Adventures “weekend escapes” are a great excuse to escape from the city and enjoy 4 days of fantastic worry free riding. Sometimes challenging, and at times technical, our Nelson and Marlborough Select Single Track weekend escape is achievable by anyone with a reasonable level of single-track experience. We ride on a variety of single-track, from the well formed Queen Charlotte track which for two days winds its way through the Marlborough Sounds to a maze of purpose built mountain-bike trails in the Nelson forests. A final blast across the top of Takaka Hill, the “Marble Mountain” brings us to a 900m descent through stunning native bush to Golden Bay and a welcome ‘Classic Kiwi BBQ” on the beach.
At the end of each day we stay in a variety of guesthouses, hostels, lodges with the ever-present hot showers, cold beers and opportunities to experience some of New Zealand’s finest hospitality and local cuisine.
Trip Profile:
- 4 days Picton to Nelson.
- 4 days mountain biking, suitable for riders with a reasonable level of single track experience.
- Accommodation: 3 nights in guesthouses and lodges.
- 4x4 vehicle support to carry all your luggage.
- Food: includes breakfasts and lunches from lunch on day 1 to lunch on day 4; evening meals are at your own cost at local cafes and restaurants so that you can experience some of New Zealand's famous local cuisine of your own choosing.
- Group size: minimum 4, maximum 10.

Tour Itinerary:
Days 1/2: Ride the Queen Charlotte track - NZ’s longest continuous single track. Transfer to Nelson.
Day 3: Explore the never ending range of purpose built mountain bike trails in the Nelson hills.
Day 4: Ride the Rameka Track into beautiful Golden Bay. End your ride with a classic Kiwi BBQ on the beach. Transfer to Nelson.
