Your Itinerary:
Day 1: Nairobi-Kericho. Depart Nairobi after breakfast, then drive through the Great Rift Valley arriving in Kericho in time for Lunch at the Kericho Tea Hotel or similar. Afternoon is spent in the tea plantation learning about tea picking and processing in the factory. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Kericho-Kisumu. Early morning departure to the plantation to assist in the tea picking as you engage the pickers with talks. Return to the hotel for breakfast then depart for Kisumu where you will branch at the Ahero Irrigation Scheme where you will visit the factory where you will get a brief lecture on the growing, weeding, irrigating and milling process. Lunch at the Imperial hotel Kisumu. Afternoon at leisure with a visit to the famous Kisumu Museum. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 3: Kisumu–Kendu Bay. After breakfast visit Luo places before departing for Kendu Bay arriving at the Big Five hotel for lunch, After noon departure to the Odino Falls to see the speeding water with its aftermath - Erosion forming gullies. A possibility of visiting Gendia Mission Hospital - one of the oldest hospital constructed by the missionaries to lure the locals into Christianity; there is also a church nearby to go with it. Dinner and overnight at the Big Five Hotel.
Day 4: Kendu Bay/Homa Bay. After breakfast depart for Ondago swamp for bird life, visit the nearby Awach Self Help Women group - a project for initiated by the local women for weaving and pottery. Proceed to Lake Simbi - the salty lake that hosts the flamingos when they migrate from Lake Nakuru. Apart from the flamingos you will learn the miraculous formation of the lake as narrated by the locals. Those who are suffering from skin diseases can fetch the highly concentrated salty water. Return to the hotel for lunch then depart for Miti Mbili fishing beach - it is around this place where we find the caves curved out by whirlwind, another ten minutes drive will take you to Ayombo Hot Springs and the Bala Rawi where the local women extract Lime crumbs which is later on transported to the neighboring towns like Kisii by donkeys. A surprise visit to any Luo homestead will see you learning how mats are made out of the papyrus reeds and their numerous uses. Dinner and overnight at Big Five or Hippo Buck Hotel in Homa Bay.
Day 5: Kendu Bay/Homa Bay–Ruma National Park. After breakfast depart for Ruma National Park to see the rare antelope, proceed to Kuja School for the deaf and also visit the tobacco plantations, sugar plantations. Meals will be at the Las Jonas Hotel.
Day 6: Ruma National Park–Maasai Mara. Depart after breakfast at the hotel for Kisii where apart from having fresh pineapples and bananas, you will visit Tabaka where most of the Kenya soapstone is extracted. Meals will be served in Kisii town then depart for Maasai Mara via Kilgoris. Dinner and overnight in Mara hotel or campsite.
Day 7: Maasai Mara. After breakfast, depart for a whole day in Mara with meals in the reserve. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Maasai Mara-Nairobi. Pre-breakfast departure to the Manyatta Village to learn village life. Take pictures with the locals as they go about their daily activities. Return to the hotel for breakfast, and then depart for Nairobi arriving late in the afternoon.
