Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Welcome to Armenia

Land in Yerevan. We meet you at the airport and transfer to your centrally located hotel in Yerevan. You have some hours of free time to rest after the journey and then we take a short trip out of Yerevan to explore the unique Garni temple survived from pagan era and continue to Geghard to see the 13th century monastery hewn into a rock. A traditional welcome dinner at one of the family farmhouses in Garni sums the day up. Overnight in Yerevan.

Day 2: Christian legacy

Breakfast at the hotel. Today we go to the religious center of Armenia – Echmiadzin, where the first Armenian church was founded in the 4th century AD. Here we also visit the “Treasury Museum” of Echmiadzin, where one can follow the traces of Christianity in Armenia back to the 4th century when it was officially accepted as a state religion. On the way back to Yerevan we visit Zvartnots to walk around the ruined temple and to explore its eloquent remains. Lunch, dinner and overnight in Yerevan.

Day 3: Ancient and Modern Yerevan

Breakfast at the hotel. We have an orientation tour in the city center and then we go to its south-eastern district to see the birthplace of Yerevan – the Urartian Erebouni fortress and citadel founded in 782 B.C. There is also a museum with an exhibition of Urartian art and crafts pieces excavated in the territory of the fortress. Later on we go to Matenadaran to see the unique collection of ancient manuscripts and miniature paintings. After having a lunch we go to Tsitsernakaberd – the Genocide memorial Complex and Museum. In the evening after the dinner we meet over some soft drinks at one of the show clubs in Yerevan. Overnight is Yerevan.

Day 4: Ethnographic Investigations

Breakfast at the hotel. We take a trip to Sardarapat, where next to the huge Memorial Complex dedicated to the Victory of Sardarapat battle, there is a large ethnographic museum with rich funds of traditional arts and crafts represented along with all the epochs of the historical developments. We stop for lunch at a traditional restaurant next to the museum, where all the served dishes are of authentic Armenian cuisine. We continue our trip to see one of the early examples of three-nave basilicas in Armenia - Ereruyk church built in the 5th century. Dinner and overnight in Yerevan.

Day 5: Leisure day. Breakfast at the hotel. The whole day is at your leisure. You might need to discover more of the city on your own or to go shopping to pick up some national souvenirs. Overnight in Yerevan.

Day 6: Ararat Mountain

Breakfast at the hotel. Today the route leads us to the slopes of the legendary Mountain Ararat, where besides enjoying the marvelous view of the mountain one can find one of the most important sanctuaries in Armenia -Khor Virap Monastery, the history of which leads back to the first steps of Christianity in Armenia. Later we go on towards the south of Armenia to see one of the wonders of medieval Armenian architecture – Noravank monastery. The picnic on the bank of the river in the picturesque canyon and the visit to the wine factory portray the day with finishing strokes. Dinner and overnight in Yerevan.

Day 7: Perfect harmony of Architecture with Nature

Breakfast at the hotel. We prepare our backpacks today, as we go to explore the north of Armenia for two days. The first stop is at Sanahin and Haghpat Monasteries and then we go to hike in Debed river Canyon. Later we go to check in at one of the best hotels in Lori region. Here we have lunch and the rest of the day is at your disposal to relax in the picturesque nature. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 8: Local surveys

Breakfast at the hotel. We go to Odzun which is one of the nicest villages in Armenia. The village is located on a plateau surrounded with mountains and forests. There is also an ancient church dating back to the 5-6th centuries. Besides the historical and cultural explorations we can also have some chance to meet with local villagers and to witness their every day life. After the lunch we take a trip to Amberd medieval fortress built at about 2400 meters altitude on mountain Aragats. The last stop of this day is at your hotel in Yerevan. Dinner and overnight in Yerevan.

Day 9: Shall we take our swimsuits with us?

Breakfast at the hotel. Today we go to see the pearl of Armenia – Lake Sevan and some of the historical sights scattered on its shores. We visit Noratous to see hundreds of khachkars, then we go to Sevan peninsula to see Sevanavank monastery built in the 9th century and at midday we go to the beach to get some suntan and to enjoy the fish barbeque. On the way back to Yerevan we visit Tsaghkadzor, which is a famous winter and summer resort in Armenia. Dinner and overnight in Yerevan.

Day 10: Transfer to the airport, departure.
