Day 1: Welcome to Armenia
On arrival at Yerevan Zvartnots Airport you are met and accompanied to your centrally located hotel. After check-in the remainder of the day is free for you to relax before joining your travel-mates for a Welcome dinner at one of the local restaurants.
Day 2: Dialogue of Cultures
Breakfast at the hotel. Start the trip with exploring Garni fortress where one can find the only temple survived from Pagan epoch in Armenia. Then go to one of the local farmhouses to see how people bake their traditional bread called “lavash”. Don’t miss this ritual, it’s worth seeing. Then continue to Geghard to admire the breathtaking medieval construction and to feel the strong belief of those ancient masters who were able to carve a monastery into a huge rock. Enjoy your traditional Armenian barbeque lunch in the village and then take a walking tour in Garni canyon to see the cliffs of polygonal basalt columns. Dinner and overnight in Yerevan.
Day 3: Yerevan and its Museums
Breakfast at the hotel. Today’s agenda includes an orientation tour along the central streets of Yerevan to keep a look-out for the Republic Square, Opera House, Parliament Building and many other important sights. The second part of the program is for the museums – Erebouni museum and the ruins of the ancient fortress founded in 782 B.C., Matenadaran, which is the largest book-depository in Armenia to house numerous ancient manuscripts, and the last stop is in Tsitsernakaberd at Genocide Museum and Memorial complex. Lunch, dinner and overnight in Yerevan.
Day 4: Religious Center
Breakfast at the hotel. Leave Yerevan for Echmiadzin – the religious center of Armenia to see the early examples of Armenian ecclesiastical architecture – St. Hripsimeh and Gayaneh churches, as well as the mother Cathedral of Echmiadzin founded in the 4th century. After visiting the “Treasury Museum” of Echmiadzin go to see the impressive ruins of Zvartnots temple. Lunch, dinner and overnight in Yerevan.
Day 5: Leisure day. A full day at leisure to explore the town at your own pace.
Day 6: Exploring the south of Armenia
Breakfast at the hotel. Take your backpacks with you today. You are going to have four day lasting tour out of Yerevan. First on today’s agenda is to observe mountain Ararat from the hill where Khor Virap monastery is towering over Ararat valley. On the way to Noravank monastery visit the wine factory of Areni village to taste the sunny flavoured wine and continue to enjoy more scenic splendor as you head into Noravank. Have a lunch on the bank of Arpa river and drive to the famous spa resort in Armenia - Jermuk town. Dinner and overnight in Jermuk.
Day 7: Towards Artsakh
Have your breakfast and go to explore the city: first take a route through the Grand Organ canyon to Jermuk waterfall, then walk around the city and taste the mineral water just from the springs. Leave Jermuk and continue to Karahunj to see the megalith construction of the ancient observatory. Have lunch in Goris and arrive in Stepanakert - the capital city of Artsakh. Take a short rest at the hotel and meet your travel mates for dinner at one of the local restaurants. Overnight in Stepanakert.
Day 8: A day in Artsakh. Breakfast at the hotel. Take a trip to Gandzasar monastery and Askeran fortress located not very far from Stepanakert, then come back to visit the carpet factory and the city museum of Stepanakert. Lunch, dinner and overnight in Stepanakert.
Day 9: Back to Yerevan. Breakfast at the hotel. Today visit Shoushi and take a route back to Armenia. On the way to Yerevan have a stop at Goris to have lunch and to explore this city of caves and rock-pyramids. Dinner and overnight in Yerevan.
Day 10: Leisure day
Day 11: Lake Sevan
Breakfast at the hotel. First on today’s agenda is to visit Tsaghkadzor - the winter and summer resort, then continue to Lake Sevan to see the 9th century monastery on the peninsula towering over the azure water of the lake. Have lunch on the shore of the lake and drive on to Haghartsin monastery in Dilijan. Dinner and overnight in Yerevan.
Day 12: Exploring the north of Armenia. Breakfast at the hotel. Today’s schedule is to explore the north of Armenia, particularly Sanahin and Haghpat monasteries which are in UNESCO list.
Day 13: The slopes of Mount Aragats. Depart on a half day tour to see Oshakan, Saghmosavank churches and Amberd fortress built on mount Aragats and return to Yerevan at lunch time. The rest of the day is free for you to relax before joining your traveling companions for the farewell party in the evening.
Day 14: Transfer to the airport, departure.
