An unforgettable journey across the Land of Fire and Ice – Iceland. Ride across never-ending lava fields, along free-flowing rivers and slow-moving glaciers through an uninhabited land, where you are reminded that pure wilderness still exists in our hectic world. The Kjölur route is an ancient riding trail, intimately associated with many dramatic events in Icelandic history. You also visit famous landmarks such as Geysir and Gullfoss and have a view over the Langjökull and Hofsjökull glaciers and the Kerlingafjöll mountains - Kjölur's flagship.
The horseback riding on this trip is rated challenging. It’s important that you are a confident rider and that you enjoy all gaits in varied terrains. You ride for 5-9 hours each day and the riding is at a fast pace with lots of tölt (running walk). You will have the opportunity to ride several different horses each day as you ride with a herd of loose horses.
