All of our walks take place at a very relaxed pace and the trails are carefully selected to give you the maximum enjoyment out of the day. The distance traveled each day will vary on the day as walks are changed daily. All the trails are chosen in a way that they can be extended or shortened. On an average day you will cover a distance of between 10 to 12 kilometers; with a moderate walking tour Wicklow Ireland ascent. Most walks start or finish in the charming and romantic valley of Glendalough. We will visit its world famous Monastic Settlement; the ruined churches; decorated crosses and majestic round tower.
This early Christian settlement was founded by St. Kevin in the 6th century as a place of learning. Glendalough is also home to two beautiful lakes. Some of our trails will follow part of the Wicklow Way; Ireland's oldest waymarked trail. All trails will at some point lead you up into the mountains; where you will be rewarded with some outstanding views of the countryside. We will pick you up sometime between 8.30 and 9.15 in Ireland adventure holiday Dublin; or along the way between there and Wicklow; the time will be decided between yourself and us at the time of booking.
The drive down to Wicklow takes approximately one hour; depending on traffic and where exactly our walk starts. Returning you back in the evening invigorated and energized by your day's adventure sometime between 5:30 and 6 pm. Your leader will be Christopher Stacey; a qualified and registered mountain guide. Born just outside of Glendalough. Christopher spent most of his life living and working in the Wicklow Mountains. He is at his best when he is in the midst of the great outdoors and loves to tell you about Irish Folklore; flora and fauna. If he is not the leader on the day it will be his wife Teresa or one of his chosen guides.
