The hotel was originally built as a mansion in 1820. The original Victorian building has been completely refurbished and enlarged but it remains the haven of serenity it has always been.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: We will pick you up at Dublin Airport and take you to the Glendalough Hotel. Where you will have the time to relax after the journey do a short stroll in the park visit the craft shop, or meet the locals in the bar and get a sample or two of the local brew.

Day 2: Your journey to Wicklow starts with a visit to the 6th Century Monastic Settlement, which is situated just beside the hotel. Beginning with an audiovisual and display in the visitors centre followed by a guided tour of the Monastic Settlement. Afterwards you will commence your first walk in the valley, which takes you up past the two lakes to an old disused Miners Village. From here the walk takes you up to an area known as the Spinc, where you will have sweeping views back down over the lakes, the Monastic Settlement and the surrounding countryside. The walk finishes by coming down by Pollanass Waterfall and back to the hotel. Distance: 11Km, 6.8Miles Height Gain: 220m, 660Ft.

Day 3: Your drive to the start of your walk today takes you through some of Wicklow's most attractive villages, Laragh, Annamoe and Roundwood, which is Ireland's highest village at 260 meters. Your walk starts overlooking Lough Tay and the Guinness Estate and it was here that a lot of Brave Heart, Excalibur, King Arthur and many more famous films were shot. Your walk takes you south back to Glendalough, through Sleamaine and Ballinafunshoge Forest. Where you will have some beautiful views down over Roundwood Village and the Vartry Reservoir on one side and Lough Dan on the other. From there the walk takes you down into Old bridge, onto Paddock Hill and into the valley of Glenmacnass and finally back to Glendalough. Distance: 17Km, 10.6Miles Height Gain: 150m, 450Ft.

Day 4: A walk with a difference, today we take you to the coastal town of Kilcoole where you will do one of the best coastal walks in the country. Starting from Kilcoole, one of Ireland's finest nature reserves. Composed of an area of wet grassland, freshwater streams and a number of marshy pools that live on during the summer months after the winter floods. A path above the beach presents magnificent views of the area, part of these views are the birds and the flowers of the reserve. In every season a different range of birds use the reserve for breeding and feeding. The walk ends in Wicklow Town where you will have the opportunity to do some shopping before we take you back to the Glendalough Hotel. Distance: 14Km 8.75Miles. Height Gain: little to none.

Day 5: After breakfast we will take you to the start of your walk at Drumgoff in the valley of Glenmalure, Irelands longest glacier valley. The trail takes you North along the Wicklow Way that gently winds its way up out of the valley, to give you some spectacular views of the Glenmalure waterfall and the surrounding countryside.
