Welcome to the "Land of the Czars"!
This is a private tour for your party only. You are not part of a larger group.
Day 1.
This morning your guide will meet you at the dock for the 1st day of your visit.
For some, today’s stops are the true reason to visit St. Petersburg. The Hermitage and the Winter Palace are the sites of many infamous moments in Russian history. The precocious behavior of Catherine the Great, the death of Alexander II, the Sunday Massacre, and the speeches of Lenin to the citizens after the successful Revolution, all occurred just outside, on the balcony, or within the walls of these Russian landmarks.
You will have an opportunity to see the massive art collection belonging to Catherine the Great in the Hermitage.
Just outside the Hermitage, in the middle of the square, you will see the monument to Alexander I honoring his defeat of the mighty Napoleon. Following the defeat of Napoleon in Russia, Alexander I led his victorious troops all the way to Paris.
After lunch, you will visit the signature sight on the skyline of St. Petersburg,
The Church on the Spilled Blood. Built as a memorial on the site of the assassination of Czar Alexander II, the architecture is magnificent but wait until you go inside. You will see the preserved sight of the bomb blast that fatally injured the Czar. “Breathless” is how you will be when this marvel reveals itself to you.
You will close out your day with opportunities to buy souvenirs. You may want to buy from any of the interesting vendors near the Church on the Spilled Blood OR you may want to walk down the street to the signature jewelers of the Czars, the House of Faberge. Believe it or not great buys on beautiful Amber jewelry are available for yourself or friends with this prestigious label.
This evening program is Optional.
Following your first evening meal, at the “Crocodile”, you will attend the Folk dance show at the Nickolaevsky Palace or one of the magnificient ballets. Following your evening entertainment, you will be meet by your driver and returned to the ship.
Day 2
You will be met at the dock by your personal tour guide and driver. You will be given the driving “overview” tour of the city. During this time you will begin to familiarize yourself with beautiful St. Petersburg, the “Venice of the North”.
Cruise passengers have just enough time to see the most important sites. We will begin right away with one of the most spectacular, the Catherine Palace. Built by Catherine I, wife of Peter the Great, the Catherine Palace was enhanced by daughter Elizabeth I,
and further enhanced by Catherine the Great. The Catherine Palace is home of the world famous “Amber Room”. The Amber Room has only been available for viewing in the last few years after the government spent many years of painstaking reconstruction of the gift of Frederick the Great. It is assumed that the original version of this amazing room was stolen by the Nazis during World War II.
Following your visit to the Catherine Palace, you will be taken by car to yet another breathtaking marvel.
Peterhof is considered by many to be the “Crown Jewel” of sights in all of Russia. Built by Peter the I, the Palace is magnificent by itself, but combined with the gardens and the fountains, it truly is a wonder.
Today, the Peterhof fountain ensemble consists of over 150 fountains and four cascades. Each year hundreds of thousands of tourists from all over the world visit this "capital of fountains" to enjoy the unforgettable miracle of Peterhof.
Participation in this tour requires a Russian Visa. The cost of a visa is $135 for visa and supporting documents.
