Lake Mburo is the largest of the five lakes within this national park that consists of open Savannah, acacia woodland and swamps. A good range of wildlife can be seen on boat trips, nature walks or game drives. For birders Lake Mburo National Park this is the best area for African finfoot, as well as six endemic papyrus species including the brilliantly colored papyrus gonalek. Located 420 km southwest of Kampala City, the park covers 260 sq km. It is one of the more popular parks, due to its relatively close location to Kampala, being particularly busy with city weekend visitors.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Transfer to Kasese. Mile after mile, the journey to Kasese through Mbarara is a combination of wonderful views of beautiful hills, valleys, extensive savanna plains, the equator to mention but a few. En route to Mbarara, expect to spot the Zebras as they welcome you into their home i.e. Lake Mburo National Park. Lunch in Mbarara. After lunch embark on your safari to Kasese through Bushenyi. Expect to have a canopy view of Kalinju forest, a clear view of lake Africa, animals and others. Dinner and overnight at white house hotel in Kasese/Mweya safari lodge/Jacana safari lodge/hotel of your choice.
Day 2: Game drive and launch cruise. Go for a game drive early morning before the sun rises too high which is the only chance to view Q.E.N.P’s rich diversity of wildlife. You wont miss out views of the elephants, hyenas, leopards, lions, the kobs, bush bucks, buffaloes, birds, plant life etc. Rest before lunch at Mweya Safari Lodge. Afternoon go for a launch cruise on the Kazinga channel that will put you right in the heart of nature where you’ll face yawning hippo’s, buffaloes resting in the water, big herds of elephants enjoying themselves, drinking and playing along channel banks, crocodiles are a common sight and other aquatic life. Dinner and overnight at a selected hotel.
Day 3: Nature walk and return safari. Before embarking on your return journey to Kampala, take a nature walk in the maramagambo forest to lookout for pythons, bats, primates, forest birds etc.
