Day 1: Arrival and settling in the Guesthouse. Arrival in Senegal (Ziguinchor or Cap Skirring), transfer and settle in the Guesthouse (with European comforts). The transfer service is also available for arrivals and departure in Banjul (The Gambia).
Day 2: Ziguinchor, Djilapao, Affiniam. Breakfast and river excursion on pirogue; the immense Casamance River, its islands and its fauna will be part of this inspiring journey. Stop overs in Djilapao and Affiniam, the impluvium houses and visit to the local villages, encounters with the population, return on pirogue at sunset.
Day 3: En-route to the Niokolo Koba. Breakfast and departure to Niokolo, we will drive through several small cities and villages, and will have the chance to spot several plantations (bananas, cotton, etc.). Lunch along the way, the trip continues until the arrival at the Niokolo-Koba Park. Settle in a bungalow/hotel, dinner and night in the resort.
Day 4: The Park and its treasures - Photo Safari. Breakfast and departure on 4x4 vehicles as to enjoy a photo safari on the Natural Reserve tracks. We will pass the Suspension Bridge, and head until the ‘Lion Camp”, to observe the wildlife on the board of the Simenti Lagoon. Warthogs, antelopes, buffaloes, deers, fawns, baboons and many other species of monkey will cross our paths. Lunch on the spot, with a chance to catch a sight of the Senegalese lions. We will eventually head to Kedougou where the arrival is scheduled in the early evening. Settle in a hotel overlooking the Gambia River, where hippos take their daily baths. Dinner and night in the resort.
Day 5: The Bedik Lands / The Dindifelo Waterfalls
Introducing the Bedik Populations: this ethnic group still lives nowadays according to millennial beliefs with deeply rooted Animist traditions. We will leave the car in the Ibel village at the bottom of the valley, and start the ascension to Iwol, the village capital of the Bedik people. We descend back in the valley for lunch, we will reach the village of Dindifelo on a 4x4 vehicle. Then, a 35/40 minutes walk along the shores of the forest’ torrent: we will reach eventually the waterfalls, a Nature's wonder with water falling from a 70 m. cliff. A unique sight: a bath is scheduled in the cool natural pool. Dinner and night in the Village Lodge Resort, equipped with solar panels. A traditional show will be performed by local artists.
Day 6: Dindifelo / Kedougou. Breakfast and departure in the early morning towards the top of the cliff, to the sources of the waterfalls: an exceptional sight all along the hills and mountains. Visit to the caves through where the exiled used to escape from the ancient Guinean Dictatorial Regime. Return to Kedougou in the afternoon and visit of the market. Dinner and night in the hotel.
Day 7: The return journey. Wake up before dawn, breakfast and departure to Ziguinchor; A day of voyaging, with stops along the villages encountered along the way. Arrival in the late afternoon, very deserved relax and dinner.
Day 8: The Art & Crafts Markets and departure preparation. Breakfast and discovery of the local arts & crafts markets, visit to a Batik factory and the Craftsmen Village, where souvenirs and art works can be purchased, lunch. In the afternoon, some free time is given: a chance for additional purchases and visits… In the early evening, transfer for the return flight.
- Days 1 and 7: The Guesthouse in Ziguinchor (double bedroom with en-suite facilities).
- Day 2: The Firdhou or the Kobé: 3stars hotels with private double bedrooms, w/en-suite
- Day 3: Campement Lodge in the Niokolo Koba Park.
- Days 4 and 6: The ‘Relais de Kedougou’ 3stars hotel with private double bedrooms, w/en-suite.
- Day 5: The Dindi Felo Campement Lodge.
