Tour Itinerary:
The program is led by a bilingual professional guide with good eyes and fully equipped. At slow pace there are opportunities to photograph birds, butterflies, common wildlife and panoramic views.
Day 1: Arrival to Panama City
You are met at the airport and driven to the Albrook Inn for a welcome cocktail and night. The Hotel is located in a nice area, at the former Canal Zone, near Panama City. The location is perfect and surrounded by nature. From there we have easy access to the main bird spots of the Panama Canal Rainforest. Night: Albrook Inn
Day 2: Metropolitan Nature Park
With a list of 267 species, this nature reserve is the largest tropical forest park within the limits of a Latin American City, a good place to find birds of the Pacific forest of the Panama Canal. We’ll look for specialties like: the Panama endemic Yellow-green Tyrannulet (rare), Lance-tailed Manakin, Pheasant Cuckoo and Rosy-thrush Tanager. Afternoon visit to the Panama Canal visitor center (Optional) or continue birding. Night: Albrook Inn (BLD)
Day 3: Old Gamboa Road & Plantation Road
Explore another hot spot of the Canal corridor, looking for Spectacled Owls and Blue-crowned Motmot. Scan the Summit Ponds for Kingfishers and nesting Boat-billed Herons. Bird walk under the evergreen forest of Plantation Road, there are possibilities to find army ant-swarms and many of the birds that follow these ants, such as Spotted Antbird, and Ocellated Antbird. Afternoon 20 minutes drive to Gamboa. The Lodge is located at the heart of the Soberania National Park, adjacent to the Panama Canal and the Chagres River. Night: Simple Devine (Gamboa) (BLD)
Day 4: Pipeline Road
Day of Birding on the Pipeline Road and the surrounding areas of the Soberania National Park. From a new observation tower, 100 feet’s high, enjoy views of several Canopy birds, such as the Blue Cotinga and Scaled Pigeons. Visit to the Rainforest Discovery Center, where Slaty-tailed Trogon, Black-breasted Puffbird and Broad-billed Motmot are easy to approach. Lunch we’ll be surrounded by hummingbird feeders. Day 5: Gamboa Wetlands & the Chagres River Shores
Day of Birding around several aquatic habitats around Gamboa, including the Ammo Dumps, searching for Rufescent Tiger-Heron, White-throated Crake, Yellow–tailed Oriole, and many flycatchers. After a delicious meal at our lodge continue the explorations around Gamboa and the Chagres river shores.

Day 6: Cerro Azul Foothills (Eastern Panama)
Early birding around Pipeline Road to look for missing species; from the humid weather of the lowlands we’ll be transferred to the eastern foothills of Panama. Cerro Azul (Blue Mountains) is a region of the Country who enjoys spring weather year around. Our lodge (Casa de Campo) is surrounded by beautiful gardens and flowers on the border-limits of the Chagres National Park. We’ll be looking for different birds and specialties, such as the Yellow-eared Toucanet, White-ruffed Manakin and the Striped-cheeked Woodpecker (National Endemic). Night: Casa de Campo (BLD)
Day 7: Cerro Azul & Birder’s View
This day we'll visit Birders View, a famous birding spot with imposing views of the Chagres National Park. The gardens and feeders attract a variety of colorful tanagers, such as Bay-headed Tanager, Emerald Tanager, Rufous-winged Tanager and Speckled Tanager. Hummingbirds include: Bronzed-Tailed Plummeteer (A hummer with pink feet), Violet-capped Hummingbird and the sought after; Rufous-crested Coquette. In the afternoon we'll go around Cerro Jefe (1,000m). Night: Casa de Campo. (BLD)
Day 8: International Flight.
Early birding around the lodge looking for missing species, 40 minutes transfer to Tocumen Airport (PTY). (B)
