Taking its name from the impressive and powerful waterfall on the River Nile, Murchison Falls National Park is five hours by road from Kampala and it is a remote and genuinely wild topical terrain. Wildlife viewing under our program combines a game drive through the acacia Savannah route along the River Nile – where huge herds of elephant, Uganda kob, Rothschild giraffe and lion will constantly intercept your ride – and a boat cruise up the Nile where mother hippos will threaten to attack to protect their young. Crocodile as well as large colonies of water birds are frequent sites along the way.
Just outside the park boundaries the Budongo Forest Reserve is home to the "Royal Mile", a stretch of road regarded as the single best bird watching site in Uganda with many species represented. Budongo is home to over 800 chimpanzees same of which can be seen on organized walks.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Leave Kampala at 7.30 am. We will enjoy hilarious views of the rolling hills and valleys covered with green natural vegetation as we drive to Masindi where we will stop for lunch before proceeding on to the park for dinner and overnight at the Red Chilli Camp.
Day 2: We will leave early for a boat launch trip at the foot of the falls before going to the camp for breakfast. Game drive and launch cruise. With a game drive early in the morning, you will see many animals and birds in their wild habitat. Also to be added on your checklist are; lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, Uganda Kobs, as you drive to the river Nile and Albert delta area of the park. After lunch, go cruising on water while viewing crocodiles basking in the sun, elephants, and buffaloes resting at the riverbanks. You won’t miss out a view of a bird with a beak resembling a shoe and many others. To sum up the day, it will be another story for you to tell as you rest over night in wild but safe and well furnished campsites while listening to the bush calls of Africa.
Day 3: Before breakfast we will visit the vantage point of the water falls for a spectacular sunrise and we will also a short hike alongside the falls. This is a unique and a memorable experience closer to the narrow gorge through which the river explodes into falls.We will leave the park and continue to Masindi for lunch in town after which we will continue with the drive to Kampala arriving here in the evening where our tour ends.
