Explore the mountain glaciers, desert landscapes, vast lake basins and expansive steppe grasslands in far western Mongolia on this exhilarating journey specially tailored for photographers and led by award winning photographer, Alison Wright. Starting in Ulaanbaatar, we fly to western Mongolia and head into the hills to visit nomadic Kazakh, Zahchin and Oold ethnic minority families. A highlight will be two days of traditional horse racing, archery and wrestling displays at the famous Nadaam Festival in Khovd. Our next stop is the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Khoid Tsenker Cave to inspect the well-preserved ancient rock paintings. After a few days of tented camping in the Mongol Altai Range, we return to Khovd to explore the wildlife-rich Khar Us Lake before our return flight to Ulaanbaatar. A full day of sightseeing in the nation's capital rounds out this exceptional, culturally and visually invigorating photographic journey in a mystic land.
