10 day trip, 8 days kayaking
Grade: Easy to Moderate Tropical Paradise Palawan province in the Philippines is a spectacular paddling playground with thousands of kms of stunning coastline. After a short flight from Manila to Puerto Princesa and transfer to El Nido, we start paddling in picturesque Bacuit Bay. Our trip follows a route along the northwest end of Palawan on the eastern edge of the South China Sea. A marine reserve protects the 45 limestone islands and countless powder-white sand beaches which we explore. We mix "big wall" paddling with an intimate exploration of sheltered bays and lagoons. The marine life is incredible with lush coral gardens for our daily snorkel and above water, we are treated to excellent bird watching. Camping amongst the tall marble cliffs watching the sunset is hard to beat. Midway we treat ourselves to a night in Miniloc resort before moving onto the rarely visited Endeavour Strait and Malampaya Sound. Malampaya means 'rich in fish' and paddling through the maze of islets and shallow reef flats is ideal for spotting dugongs and Irrawaddy freshwater dolphins. A brand new itinerary ...
