Oldonyo Lengai: Is found 125 km from Lake Manyara, it is 2878 m above the sea level. The mt is still alive with allots of volcanic activities. Oldonyo Lengai found itself seat on the floor of rift valley on the plains of Engaruka. Oldonyo Lengai pours its water into Lake Natron, the Flamingo nesting Lake. On the way driving to Oldonyo Langai you will pass Engaruka Village, which is found 40 km from Manyara. There will be an option of visiting Engaruka Ruins. The driving will take up to 4hrs to reach the base of Mt Oldonyo Lengai.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arusha – Lengai. Drive from Arusha via Mto wa Mbu village to Kamakia Camp. The camp is on the riverbank of Engaresero River. Visiting Engaresero water falls or hike to Engaresero rift wall. Later in the mid-night drive to the base of Oldonyo Lengai for climb (ascending will take between 6-7 hrs) we expect you to be on the peak by sunrise. There will be a short time spending before descending to the base, which will take between 2-3 hrs. Dinner and Overnight at Kamakia Campsite.
Day 2: Oldonyo Lengai - Kamakia. Drive from Lengai Base to Kamakia Camp where you will have Brunch before driving to Lake Natron for the expeditions and short hike. Later in the Afternoon drive to the Camp for short rest and visiting Maasai Bomas (houses), In the evening you will attending Maasai Dance. Traditional Ceremony with Maasai and Goat barbeque. Dinner and Overnight at Kamakia Campsite.
Day 3: Kamakia – Arusha. Morning breakfast then drive to Arusha with picnic lunch, via Shimo La Mungu (The Crater of Gods). Dinner and overnight at Arusha Resort Centre.
