For the first two days we cover the Grands Crus of the Montagne de Reims, the famous Pinot Noir vine- yards of Bouzy, Ambonnay and Aÿ.
Then we have a day for the premier crus of the Vallée de la Marne passing through Champillon, Hautvillers, Dizy and Cumières. Theoretically this is a Pinot Meunier vineyard but we will see Chardonnay and Pinot Noir too. A day covers the Chardonnay vineyard of the Côtes des Blancs from Chouilly, Cramant, Avize, Oger to Le Mesnil.
Along the way we’ll taste at many of these villages with growers (since we have arranged well over 100 Champagne tours - we have a good few growers to choose from!) as well as tasting classic Champagnes with negociants such as the excellent Philipponat who are also out in the countryside too.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Meet in Aÿ Dinner Overnight Aÿ. 2 star gite or 3 star hotel up-grade.
Day 2: Walk in the montagne de Reims. Picnic lunch.
Day 3: Walk in the Vallee de la Marne. Lunch.
Day 4: Walk in the Côte des Blancs. Lunch. Dinner.
Day 5: Visits in Aÿ.
Meet in Aÿ: these breaks can be combined with an extension in Paris as the connection between the Champagne region and Paris is very good. For example, Reims is just 45 minutes from Paris by train (TGV).
