Launois in Mesnil sur Oger is one of the largest Grower-Producers and one of the best producers in Champagne’s Côte des Blancs. Taittinger our afternoon appointment, have lovely cellars which were carved out of the chalk by the Romans. We will taste a couple of their fine and elegant Champagnes.
On the last day we visit Leclerc-Briant in Epernay. Pascal Le Clerc is one of Champagne’s most uncompromising wine-makers. The rosé skates on the edge of red and the champagnes are provocatively pungent and highly individualistic. After this we have a tasting lunch at Roger Brun, which as ever, will involve tasting a large number of cuvees, (mostly from Aÿ) and be great fun!
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: 07.30 Depart Victoria 09.15 Meet Folkestone (all tours) 10.00 Meet Dover (ferry tours only) Channel crossing by ferry or shuttle as indicated Travel to Reims. Comparative champagne tasting.
Day 2: Morning Champagne visit. Free lunchtime in Reims Afternoon visit. Comparative champagne tasting.
Day 3: Morning champagne visit. Lunch at a small Champagne House. 20.00 / 20.30 Return Dover (ferry tours only) 20.30/21.00 Return Folkestone. 22.30 Return Victoria.
