Our vacations are all self-guided, so that you can enjoy your own flexible schedule without tour groups or buses.

This four day vacation is designed for those who enjoy wine and want to spend their time exclusively in the Wine Country. You will traverse the vineyards and mountains surrounding the quaint towns of Sonoma and Glen Ellen, while enjoying wine tasting at world class wineries and private wine estates. Two nights are spent on historic Sonoma Plaza with easy walking to fabulous restaurants, wine bars, and historic sites.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Sonoma, Hike and Wine Tasting. Your trek begins in the charming, historic town of Sonoma. Plan on arriving in Sonoma by 11 a.m., as you will enjoy a wonderful hike and wine tastings today. Drop your luggage at your romantic inn for the next two nights, which is just off the Sonoma Plaza. Pick up your lunch at a delicious cafe on the Plaza, and then begin your hike ascending up to a beautiful vista point. Return to town through an old cemetery with fascinating gravestones and history, including that of the Spanish founder of Sonoma, General Vallejo. Your hike continues to the outskirts of town with visits to two wineries where you will enjoy reserve tastings. Finish with a special vineyard tour before returning to your lodging near the northernmost of the famous California missions, the Mission de San Francisco Solano. Dinner this evening is at one of the many wonderful restaurants within walking distance of your lodging. Hiking today: 6 miles (10 km) with 550 feet (170 m) elevation gain and loss.

Day 2: Sonoma, Hike and Wine Tasting. Today you will walk through the stately east side of Sonoma before hiking through oak and redwood forests, all part of a vast winery estate. After the hike you will have your first wine tasting of the day. You will then continue to the oldest winery in the state for another tasting, and finish your hiking day at a family owned and operated winery with a private cave tasting. A short transport will return you to your lodging where you can relax before another special Wine Country dinner in Sonoma. Hiking today: 8 miles (13 km) with 600 feet (180 m) elevation gain and loss.

Day 3: Glen Ellen Winery Walk. The final day of your trip is an opportunity to experience the less traveled part of Sonoma and Sonoma Valley wineries. A transport will pick you up and take you to Glen Ellen, where you will walk between private estate wineries for reserve tastings. At your final tasting, the winemaker/owner will greet and escort you into his estate where you will enjoy his cult status pinot noirs. A short walk will then bring you to your luxury lodging for the evening. You will have a chance to relax by the pool and enjoy a spa treatment if you wish. Dinner tonight will be at one of the wonderful local restaurants within walking distance of your lodging. Hiking today: 5 miles (8 km) walking between wineries and private wine country estates with 300 feet (90 m) elevation gain and loss.

Day 4: Trek Conclusion. Your Wine Country Trek comes to an end. Let us help you arrange airport transfer or plans to continue your holiday.
