Description of the Accommodations:
Villa Campestri. The fine hotel has been carefully restored using authentic materials and maintaining the building’s original appearance. Its fascinating atmosphere echoes the history of the surrounding area which was the home of Giotto, Beato Angelico and the Medici family.
The villa is surrounded by lawns, ancient olive trees and shady oak and chestnut woods. The grounds provide a beautiful swimming pool and a magnificent view of the valley below against the backdrop of the Apennine chain and Mount Falterona, the ancient “Ful Truna” - throne of the Etruscans gods. This select but welcoming environment offers guests an unforgettable restful experience.
Description of the Activities:
Renaissance cooking course with lunch on creation. To relive the renaissance atmosphere in the land of the Medici, we create a period menu composed of Savoury garlic and seasonal herb tortes, delicate Almond blancmange, Almond and fennel chicken, and Tredura – pork meat on a leek bed.
-Biancomangiare (realized with boiled chicken breast - 3.52oz. of almonds - soft part of bread - Chicken broth - 1 spoon of sugar - salt and pepper - 3 spoons of white vinegar)
-Tredura di porri (realized with 4 leeks - butter - 17.06 oz. of milled pork -3 sausages - soft part of bread - chicken broth - 2 powders of saffron - 2 yolks - salt and pepper)
-Pollo con mandorle e finocchio (realized with 2 chickens browned with butter -2 fennels - 7.05oz. of almond - Parsley, salt and pepper – Cinnamon - 4 cloves - 2 powders of saffron - chicken broth)
Torta di erbe (To prepare the pasta: 7.25 oz. of meal - 2 spoons of olive oil - 6 spoons of water. To prepare the filling: 14.10 oz. of vegetables (lettuce, rocket, chicory) - 7.05oz. of ricotta cheese - 3.52 oz. of pecorino cheese - 1 egg – salt)
- Torta di agli (To prepare the pasta: 7.05 oz. of meal - 2 spoons of olive oil - 6 spoons of water - salt. To prepare the filling: 1 garlic boiled in water for 10 minutes - 7.05 oz of ricotta cheese - 3.52 oz. of pecorino cheese - 1.76 oz. of bacon - 1 powder of saffron - 1 egg).
- Erbette dalle foglie minute (Realized with wild salads, onion, fennel seeds, butter and oil).
Oil Tasting:
Our oil tasting courses are based on the sensory analysis of two or three different extra-virgin olive oils. We analyze in detail the three fundamental indicators necessary to describe the characteristics of an oil: fruitiness, bitterness and spiciness. As we progress, we also run over the salient points in the history of olive oil and its place in contemporary learning.
Private Florence Walking Tours and Uffizi:
What could be better than having a private guide sharing secrets and knowledge of the most popular museums in the entire world? Outdoor guided tour of the Duomo complex: Giotto’s bell tower, the Baptistry with its bronze doors including the famous Porta del Paradiso, the Cathedral with the magnificent Cupola del Brunelleschi. The tour continues with a guided tour of the famous Galleria degli Uffizi where you can admire the superb paintings of Botticelli, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Raffaello, Giotto, Cimabue, and Masaccio. End the tour inside the museum and time on your own to explore after.
