For 45-65 year olds who want to travel now that the kids have left home (whether by their choice or yours!). We’ll focus on learning just that little bit more about things we see, but you’ll enjoy lots of fun and camaraderie.

Your Itinerary

Day 1:
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport. We’ll pick you up and drive you to the Dik Dik Hotel on the outskirts of Arusha. Overnight here.

Day 2:
Have breakfast, then enjoy a presentation by a wildlife conservationist on Tanzania conservation issues. Have lunch, then drive to Tarangire National Park, famous for its unspoiled bush, large elephant herds and ancient baobab trees. In the early afternoon, arrive at Oliver’s Camp, an exclusive tented camp on the eastern boundary of the park. Enjoy a late afternoon game drive or optional walk. Dinner and overnight at Oliver’s Camp.

Day 3:
Have breakfast, then spend the day with an established wildlife researcher in the park. While exploring and learning, enjoy a picnic lunch. In the afternoon, return to Oliver’s Camp. Dinner and overnight here.

Day 4:
After breakfast, take a game drive as you exit the park. Drive to Karatu and have lunch at Gibb’s Farm, a quaint lodge set in coffee fields. Continue on to Ngorongoro Crater. Take in the stunning view, then drive to the Ngorongoro Serena Lodge. Enjoy a drink at the bar or relax on the verandah of your room. Dinner and overnight here.

Day 5:
Have an early breakfast, then spend a full day exploring Ngorongoro Crater with picnic lunch. The crater, a World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve, supports so much wildlife, it’s also known as the Noah’s Ark of Africa. Look out for lions, wildebeest, zebra, gazelles, elephants, hyenas and the rare black rhinoceros. Dinner and overnight at the Ngorongoro Serena Lodge.

Day 6:
Have breakfast, then drive through the Serengeti Plains to Seronera, heart of the world-famous Serengeti National Park. Enjoy lunch and a visit to the Serengeti Visitor’s Center. Continue on to the Serengeti Serena Lodge. Spend the afternoon relaxing or on a game drive in Seronera. Enjoy dinner and a presentation by an established wildlife researcher. Overnight here.

Day 7:
Have breakfast, then spend the day exploring the Serengeti with your wildlife researcher. Dinner and overnight at the Serengeti Serena Lodge.

Day 8:
After breakfast, drive to the Serengeti’s Western Corridor. Have lunch at Kirawira Tented Camp, a lovely camp in the hills overlooking the Grumeti River valley. Enjoy an afternoon game drive or opt to sit by the pool at camp. At this time of year, the great wildebeest migration should be here, making for excellent action. Dinner and overnight at Kirawira Tented Camp.

Day 9:
After breakfast, enjoy a morning trip to see Lake Victoria. Have lunch beside the lake then enjoy a game drive on your way back to the lodge. Dinner and overnight at Kirawira Tented Camp.

Day 10:
This morning, enjoy breakfast, then pack up and drive back through the Serengeti to Olduvai Gorge. Have a picnic lunch then spend a short time visiting the museum dedicated to Louis and Mary Leakey and their discoveries into the origins of homo sapiens. Continue on through the Ngorongoro Highlands and the rich farmland around Karatu. Continue on to the Lake Manyara Serena Lodge, atop the Eastern Rift Valley Escarpment. Dinner and overnight here.

Day 11:
Have breakfast, then choose between a morning walk or cultural tour. Return to the lodge for lunch then enjoy an afternoon or relaxing by the pool or take a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its lions, elephants, baboons and numerous water birds. Dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara Serena Lodge.

Day 12:
Enjoy breakfast, then take an morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation before heading back to Arusha. Enjoy an early dinner, then head on to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home.
