You will visit the first center of Tibetan Buddhism in Mongolia - the Erdenezuu monastery and the ruins of the capital city from the ancient empire and will also enjoy the beautiful marble monuments from the Turkish period 5-7 Century AD and its stories. On the way back to Ulaanbatar we will stop at beautiful Khustai National Park to see the only living wild horse in the world - the Takhi aka Przewalski horse.
Erdenezuu ("One Hundred Treasures") was the first Buddhist monastery in the Mongolian Empire. It was established in 1586 on the orders of Abtai Sain Khaan, a direct descendent from Genghis Khaan. The monastery has a massive square wall, 420 meters in length each side, a total of 108 Stupas and 17 temples. Today Erdenezuu monastery still shows its glory with collections of many priceless religious objects and incredibly beautiful Mongolian arts.
Your Itinerary
Day 1:
Arrival in Ulaanbaatar, meet at Buyant Ukhaa airport, transfer to hotel, city tour: visit Gandan Monastery, Natural History Museum and National History museum.

Drive to famous Gun-Galuut Nature Reserve, hiking / optional horse riding to Mt Baits for wildlife viewing, to the river Kherlen for birdwatching. Steppe Nomads camp.

Day 3:
Drive to Elsen tasarhai through the green grassland with a stop in Ulaanbaatar for lunch, arrive at the stunning sand dunes, streams and rocky mountains, hiking around, Ger camp overnight.

Drive to Kharakhorum, visit the historic site -Erdene-Zuu monastery and its surroundings like ruins of Tumen Amgalant Palace and the Phallic Rock.

Day 5:
Visit the Khoshoo Tsaidam Monuments from the Turkic period and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Central Mongolia.

Day 6:
Drive back towards Ulaanbaatar, transfer to Hustai National Park, where the Takhi wild horses graze peacefully with other wild animals. Ger camp overnight.

Drive back to Ulaanbaatar, sightseeing in city: visit Bogd Khan's palace and Zaisan memorial and shopping Traditional Folklore Concert by Tumen Ekh ensemble.
