Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Upon arrival, at Shannon Airport, you will be met by your driver/guide and taken to Cork City which is the second largest city in Ireland. There will be extensive sightseeing of this colorful, medieval city. Accommodations tonight will be at Cork's Deluxe Hotel, the Hayfield Manor (or similar). Hayfield retains a serene atmosphere combining the elegance of an earlier age with every modern luxury. Includes: (B), (D). Day 2: While golfers play the spectacular, new parkland course, Fota Island, non-golfers will continue to enjoy sightseeing including a visit to the famous Port of Cobh from where over 2.5 million Irish immigrated to North America, many during the Great Famine of the 1840's. Cobh was also the last Port of Call for the ill-fated Titanic. Fota Island engenders comparisons with St. Andrews and Augusta with its use of a double green and its water guarded par 3, 180 yd. tilted green 3rd hole, infamously known as Little Island. Golf Digest stated "For a breath of true golfing air Fota Island is the very place. It tests all your skills. It makes you think. It's real golf." Accommodations tonight will continue at the Hayfield Manor Hotel (or similar). Includes: (B), (D). Day 3: Golfers will play the world famous links course at Waterville while non-golfers will visit the Shellig Heritage Center with its 16-minute audio-visual interactive displays of the Shellig Islands located 7 miles off the famous Ring of Kerry. Among its many celebrated features, Waterville boasts a tee, which stands a dizzying 250 feet above sea level and a par 3 played across a deep ravine. The par 3 is named the Mass Hole, a reference to Penal Times when the local inhabitants celebrated their Religion in the concealed gorge for fear of persecution. Overnight is at the Butlers Arm Hotel (or similar). The Butler Arms features well appointed rooms, some with sea views, comfortable lounges, a seafood restaurant and a Fisherman's Bar. Includes: (B), (D). Day 4: Golfers will play the spectacularly picturesque Killarney-Mahoney's Point Golf Course. Non-golfers will embark on a tour of one of Ireland's most popular scenic drives, the Ring of Kerry. There will be numerous stops along the route to admire the views and take photos. Overnight will be at the Killarney Park Hotel (or similar). This luxury hotel offers the intimacy and privacy of times past but with the modern amenities of an indoor swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, outdoor hot tub and fitness center. Includes: (B), (D). Day 5: Today we will travel through Tralee to Ballybunion. Golfers will play the new course at Ballybunion which was designed by the late Robert Trent Jones and is considered one of his great masterpieces. It is a truly magnificent course set on some of the finest linksland in the world. It is already ranked as one of the world's best courses. Non-golfers will explore the picturesque town of Ballybunion and its environs with ample opportunities for leisure, shopping, saltwater baths, etc. Overnight will be spent at Ballybunion's premier and new Hotel, the Iragh Ti Connor, with 17 luxury rooms and superb Dining facilities and entertainment. Ballybunion is also noted for its fine, Atlantic Ocean Beach Which can be used for swimming, weather permitting. Includes: (B), (D). Day 6: Golfers will play the legendary Ballybunion Old course which has, at times, been ranked as the world's finest Links course. This course is the site of this year's Irish Open and the Club itself is captained by Tom Watson. Non-golfers will continue with extensive sightseeing, shopping, and relaxation.
