Our 2-Day/2-Night Anniversary Stay-and-Tour Escape Package includes a romantic setting with fresh flowers, a surprise gift, refreshments and hors d'oeuvres, a full home-cooked candlelight dinner, a special anniversary breakfast, and a well-developed one-day, self-guided scenic and enjoyable road trip and easy get-away adventure. A pleasant and comfortable 1½ hours' or less driving time each way, your road trip takes you to a delightful and secluded "hidden" mountain village and an Audubon Preserve, both located in a beautiful green valley high in the Sierra Nevada range near a major lake and wild river. In the evenings during your stay with us, you also will have plenty of time to relax and enjoy our outdoor gazebo or hot tub/spa under (usually) starry skies.
Your Itinerary
Day 1:
Depending on your arrival time, you're welcome to relax in our outdoor gazebo or well-protected hot tub/spa; take a short, pleasant walk or drive around the neighborhood and town; or enjoy reading a book or magazine from our extensive library, watch TV, work a puzzle, play cards or a board game, or chat in one of our common rooms available to all guests. A variety of refreshments are always available upon your arrival. If you like, we'd be happy to suggest a local restaurant for you to enjoy your evening meal (not included in the package price) before you retire in your private room.
The next morning, after a complete breakfast, you motor to a quaint mountain village (weather permitting) over a nearly mile-high summit, explore its shops, residential areas, and, if open, its historical museum and fish hatchery, where eggs of the distinctive and rare Golden Trout are incubated. Then enjoy a lunch at one of the local restaurants in the village or along the river, motor around a man-made mountain lake, and return to The BEVLEN HAUS. Along the way back, you can stop and explore an Audubon bird sanctuary and observe other rural sights of nature, perhaps glimpse some large and small wildlife on or off the road or in the sky. Back at The BEVLEN HAUS, you freshen up, relax, and enjoy refreshments and hors d'oeuvres before sitting down to a candlelight dinner prepared and served by your hosts. Evening refreshments will follow, perhaps sitting by the fire in one of the common rooms (depending on the time of year and weather), with time for relaxing again in our hot tub/spa or reading any of our hundreds of informative and classic books, taking an evening walk, writing letters, watching TV, working a puzzle, playing cards or a board game, chatting with newfound friends, etc.

Day 2:
On your final day, after a comfortable and restful night and a full, leisurely special breakfast, you return to your home via US Highway 395 or 14, depending on your destination. If traveling Highway 395 going south, you can stop at one of the nearby "living ghost towns" to browse its shops, museum, and general store, where you can order and experience a real old-fashioned ice cream soda, milk shake, or phosphate at a real old-fashioned soda fountain. If traveling Highway 14 south, a stop at the Visitor Center at Red Rock Canyon offers the opportunity to walk a scenic trail and learn more about the wonders of this fascinating geological site.
