Our 2-Day/2-Night package includes a everything for a desert romance - fresh flowers, a surprise gift, refreshments and hors d'oeuvres, full home-cooked candlelight dinner, hot tub, starry skies, special honeymoon breakfast, and a road trip to a hidden mountain village.
Itinerary
DAY 1
WELCOME TO THE MOJAVE DESERT! Your bed and breakfast host will greet you with a variety of refreshments, as you check into your private, romantic bedroom. A variety of refreshments are always available upon your arrival. An hors d'oeuvres tray is available for you, and we can suggest a local restaurant for your evening meal. Local menus are available for your perusal. Enjoy our spa/hot tub and the brilliant starry desert skies!
DAY 2
LAKES, MOUNTAINS, RIVERS & VILLAGES. After a wonderful, beautifully prepared homecooked breakfast, motor to the quaint mountain village of Kernville. You'll be traveling over a nearly mile-high summit, to explore its shops, residential areas, and historical museum. Make sure to stop at the fish hatchery, where the eggs of the distinctive and rare Golden Trout are incubated. Bring your swim suits (during summmer months) and enjoy a dip in one of the largest lakes in Southern California, and enjoy the riverbanks of the rustic Kern River. We'll suggest the perfect spot for lunch in the village, then return to your "home" at the Bevlen Haus.
Along the way back, you can stop and explore an Audubon bird sanctuary and other scenic rest spots. Back at the Bevlen Haus, relax, enjoy refreshments and sit down to a candlelight dinner prepared by your host. Evening refreshments will follow, perhaps sitting by the fire in one of the common rooms (depending on the time of year and weather), with time for relaxing again in our hot tub/spa. Meals: (B)(D)
DAY 3
ADIEU. On your final day, after a comfortable and restful night and a full, leisurely special breakfast, you return to your home via US Highway 395 or 14, depending on your destination. If traveling Highway 395 going south, you can stop at one of the nearby "living ghost towns" to browse its shops, museum, and general store, where you can order and experience an old-fashioned ice cream soda, milk shake, or phosphate at an authentic soda fountain. If traveling Highway 14 south, a stop at the Visitor Center at Red Rock Canyon offers the opportunity to walk a scenic trail and learn more about the wonders of this fascinating geological site. (B)
