Transylvania is the Romanian province situated inside the Carpathian arch as you can see on the map.
Your Itinerary:
Day 1: Pick up from Bucharest Airport. Pick up the jeeps from the car rental agency on the airport. Drive on asphalt road to Sinaia. Check in at the Marami Hotel 3*** in Sinaia. If time allows there is an optional 20-km forestry road round trip to Valea cu Brazi chalet at 1500 m high.
Day 2: We ascend on the poor forestry road something like 26 km reaching on the Bucegi Mountains plateau. See the Romania sphinx, and then continue ascending 4 more km to Costila peak there is an optional on foot walk to the Caraiman Cross. The monument is dedicated to the First World War Heroes who died on the Prahova Valley. The view is unbelievable. Return to the jeeps and descend to the Bulboci lake and further through the Tartar’s Gorges we arrive at Pestera Hotel 3***.
Day 3: After the breakfast we start the round trip to the Thief’s Cliff. Ascent on the old unused road about 5 km that takes us to the Thief’s Cliff. Back at the Pestera Hotel for lunch. Then continue descending on forestry roads along the Bulboci Lake more than 20km until reaching Moroeni Village. Another 50 Km on asphalt roads to Moeciu. Accommodation in Moeciu in 3*** Hotel
Day 4: Visit the Bran Castle, a well-preserved medieval castle that reminds about the well-known vampire Count Dracula. Then 20 Km from Bran we visit the 14th century Rasnov fortress, with its superb location and a marvelous view. Brasov - medieval city. Brasov is the most important medieval city in the area and one of the most visited cities in Romania. Great sites to visit as The Black Church, the main square, the old defense walls that are still well preserved on the south and west side of the old city the watch towers and the narrowest street in Europe are just a few points on this day’s agenda. Back at Bran we take another round trip on a sheep muddy path that ascends up to the hunting hut in Gutanu Meadow. Another marvelous view. Descend to Moeciu.
Day 5: Climb to Fundata on the old forestry road along the Gradistei valley. The road is quite hard on the upper section. From Fundata a country road descends to Sirnea village and a forestry road continues with ups and downs. When reaching Dambovicioara Village the descend becomes steep and the rocky road is very difficult. From Dambovicioara we continue through the 4-km gorge and arrive in Podu Dambovitei. Another set of gorges and we pass through the Satic Village and head to north for a 20 km difficult forestry road arriving at the Pecineagu Lake. Return to Moeciu
Day 6: Return to Bucharest just in time to get your flight back.
