Our tour combines 3-4 star accommodation and the unspoiled solitude of Sumava National Park with some of Central Europe’s best preserved medieval towns and the exquisite chateaux complexes of Southern Moravia. The trip is rich in cultural diversity and combines a mix of different architectural styles as you cycle through beautiful natural parks, river valleys and wine country. Fly in and out of Prague. Length: 7 days, 6 nights. Rating: easy to moderate. Transfers: 1 day.
Your Itinerary:
Day 1: Gather in Prague. Travel to Southern Bohemia and warm up with a gentle 20km descent through ancient forest tracks a stone’s throw from the infamous border of the Iron Curtain, walk through the primeval Forest of Boubin and enjoy the bike trails on the shores of the Vltava river valley. Finish the day with a quiet drink or sauna at your hotel overlooking the lake. Distance: 55km/28miles.

Day 2: Begin the day cycling along quiet roads on the shores of beautiful Lipno Lake. As you continue your descent into the river valley, tour a 13th century working Cistercian Monastery and cycle under the ramparts of the Rozemberg Castle, a 16th century fortress perched on a knife-edge cliff and almost completely cut off by the river. Soon you'll find yourself lost in the winding alleys of medieval Cesky Krumlov, a Renaissance and Baroque jewel of Central Europe and your home for two nights.
(B)
Day 3: Loop Day in Cesky Krumlov. Explore Cesky Krumlov on foot, ride to the UNESCO heritage site of Holasovice, a tiny Baroque hamlet or Ceske Budejovice, the original Budweiser brewery or float down the Vltava River on a raft.
(B), (D)
Day 4: Moving away from Cesky Krumlov, a 1 km climb will bring you above the valley to the flatter UNESCO protected biosphere and nature reserve to the picturesque, medieval spa town of Trebon. The pie-shaped main square is surrounded by waterworks and lakes. Tour the massive Renaissance chateau and learn about the strange habits of its past owners. A visit to the 16th century local brewery is a must to quench your thirst and chat with the locals. Before dinner, explore the picturesque Baroque backstreets and dine on the superb local fish available at our favorite restaurant. Distance: 59km/36miles.

Day 5: The day offers flat cycling along forest tracks by fishponds towards the largest town in Trebonska, Jindrichuv Hradec. This richly decorated town boasts a stunning castle surrounded by lakes. You'll cycle through the town's fortified gates before coming to stop at your charming 4 star hotel, right on the main square. Before dinner wander through the castle grounds and nearby chateau or explore the back alleys. Distance: 59km/36 miles.

Day 6: Heading north after breakfast, you'll travel over undulating landscapes with sweeping views of "Czech Canada", an area of forests toward the tiny red chateau of Cervena Lhota for a picnic. The road is bordered by silver beech as you begin a number of long descents north toward Tabor, a fortress town with commanding views over the river valley. The old town has miles of tunnels and catacombs worth exploring. Your home for the night will be a brilliant Gothic mansion near the old walls. Distance: 51km/31miles.
