The trip starts at Teletsky Lake, one of the deepest and purest in Russia. It is framed in high and steep richly wooded hills. We cross it in a motorboat to the southern end where a bus takes us and brings to Aktru mountain area. There we climb to several high alpine view points. Archaeological sites, burial mounds with ancient graffiti are visited. A day of easy rafting down the Princess (Katun River) ends up the trip.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Flight to Barnaul. Bus transfer to the Laguna tourist base on the Shore of Teletsky Lake. Included: (B)
Day 2: Cross the lake to its southernmost tip, Kyrsai bay, in a motor boat. Drive in a 4WD vehicle along the Chulyshman valley. Camp. Included: (B), (L), (D)
Day 3: Drive along the Chulyshman valley to the Aktru valley. Cross the Kurai steppe with many burial mounds. Camp on the bank of the Aktru River. Included: (B), (L), (D)
Day 4: Drive to the Aktru mountaineering base at 1800m. Outing to Goluboye Lake at 2800m. Camp. Included: (B), (L), (D)
Day 5: Easy day outing to Kupol Mountain (3660m). Return to camp. Included: (B), (L), (D)
Day 6: Walk over the Uchitel pass (2100m) to the high Yshtyk-Kyol plateau. Camp on the shore of a mountain lake. Included: (B), (L), (D)
Day 7: Walk past numerous lakes on the high Yshtyk-Kyol plateau to the Majoi tourist base (1300m). Camp. Russian bath. Included: (B)
Day 8: Drive to the Areda tourist base: double rooms with private facilities. Included: (B)
Day 9: A day of easy rafting down the Katun River. Areda base. Included: (B)
Day 10: Drive to Barnaul and flight to Moscow. Included: (B)
