Gun-Galuut is one of the most popular nature reserves of Mongolia. The Reserve is truly the marvelous combination of high mountains, colorful flowers, pretty lakes, rivers and wetlands with its famous rare species. Tourists visiting the Nature Reserve have the opportunities to do watching and taking photos of the endangered species, rafting and fishing in the lakes and rives, camping in a beautiful and peaceful nature, visiting nomadic family, riding horse, yak and camel and introducing with traditional nomadic lifestyle and culture. During the trip you will see and take pictures of endangered wild Mountain sheep-Argali the Big Horns from the closest distance and view of many species of rare waterbirds: White-napped crane, Siberian White Crane, Black stork, Asian pond heron, Whooper swan, Swan Goose and so on. Gun-Galuut is a home for over 60 Argali sheep and other wild animals. Here you are able to view these beautiful big animals from the closest distance and take some great photos.

Visiting a nomadic family on horseback is an exciting experience. Mongolian nomads are the friendliest people that you can meet on earth and they welcome you to their gers. The nomads inhabit the entire country respecting the nature, living in gers, breeding livestock- sheep, goat, horse, cow, yak and camel, moving for good pasture and good water for their animals, living from the products they produce, galloping on horseback... This is the life the great nation has lived since the time immemorial, conquered half of the world and they have perfected it through the centuries.

The Nature Reserve is also home for world endangered bird species of White-Napped Crane, Siberian White Crane, Black Stork, Asian Pond Heron, Whooper Swan, Swan Goose. These "handsome and proud" fawls inhabit the lovely lakes of Ayaga, Ikh-Gun and wetland of Ayaga in the Nature Reserve. It is a wonderful opportunity to view and take photos of these birds as they are not seen in almost all places of the world except a few places to name.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1:
Arrival in Ulaanbaatar, meet at the airport, transfer to hotel, city tour: Gandan Monastery, the Museums of National and Natural History. Drive out of the city to Gun-Galuut Nature Reserve for 2 hours. Transfer to Steppe Nomads tourist camp.

Day 2:
Hiking to Mt. Baits to view endangered wild mountain sheep Aragali the Big Horns and other wild animals including Gray Wolf, Corsak fox, Marmots etc.

Day 3:
Breakfast. Horse riding or horse cart journey to a nomadic family to get basic introduction about nomadic way of life. See women producing dairy products, sheep herding, mare milking etc, packed lunch. Return to the ger camp, dinner and overnight there.

Day 4:
Horse riding to Lakes ikh-Gun and Ayaga for relaxing and birding for White crane, White-naped crane, Swan goose, Whooper swan, Duck species and so on.

Day 5:
Fishing and swimming on the River Kherlen for Taimen, Lenok and many other species of fish.

Day 6:
Boat sailing on the river Kherlen or Lake Ikh-Gun. Enjoy the wilderness and nature beauty.

Day 7:
Drive back to Ulaanbaatar, sightseeing in city: visit Bogd Khan's palace and Zaisan memorial and shopping Traditional Folklore performance.

Transfer to the airport after breakfast.
