Soaring, glaciated peaks, hanging valleys, thundering waterfalls, fields of wild flowers and quaint secluded villages are witnessed throughout this moderate mountain bike tour. Designed for those comfortable with biking off road, having fun on single tracks (without having to be an expert) and having good stamina for this venue!
Day 1: Transfer, Introductions and Warm-up Loop: We transfer to a Mountain Hostel situated below the peaks of Eiger, Moench and Jungfrau. Our warm-up ride passing through a wild and stunning environment is only the beginning. We welcome you with a drink, answer questions and examine your expectations to further personalize each day's ride to your ability level. Hotel: All 5 nights at either a mt. hostel: fun, colorful, table tennis & swimming pool, or a 3-star cozy mountain chalet with great views, whirlpool and sauna.
Day 2: Bussalp Loop, Eiger, Moench and Jungfrau View Trail: Climb to an Alp situated opposite Eiger, Moench and Jungfrau. Dramatic ridge formations are a geologist dream as the wrenched and layered rock strata and karst fields are abundant. Ride continually past fine views of the three overwhelming north faces of Eiger, Moench and Jungfrau along with the surrounding glaciers in an area where only local the farmer & post is allowed to drive. Tinkling cowbells serve as the background music to our long downhill into the Valley the glacial streams below.
Day 3: Kleine Scheidegg Loop, Top of Europe and Extreme downhills: We ride up to the Kleine Scheidegg; a broad saddle with incredible close up views of Switzerland's most famous peaks. Shadowed by the face of Eiger's high wall we ride to the top of this world famous path where we encounter Europe's highest train station at 3454m/11.000'. Listen to locals playing alphorn as we enjoy this stereotypical perfect world image of Switzerland.
Day 4: Grindelwald loop: Cycle past the Eiger North Face while listening to cowbells and passing the numerous waterfalls to the glacier that feeds them. We are then led to the blue ice grotto situated inside a glacier of ice sculptures made by men (and women...) and nature.
Day 5: Grosse Scheidegg--The Big One: With the first sun beams glimpsing over the Eiger we are back in the saddle. Climb the same pass as the Tour de Suisse. This gentle pass offers ever-changing scenery highlighted by the presence of the needled limestone peaks and the massive gray rock walls of the Wetterhorn. The alpine scenery is the picture perfect image we have of it. For the daring we offer the route used at the int'l mt. bike race known only as the "Eiger Challenge". The dirt trails, narrow paths and open alpine pastures lead further up into the Alps. For the rest of us we take a Post bus up to the pass for the last part of the ride where we cruise down to the chalets of Grindelwald and a farewell dinner by Andiamo Adventours.
Day 6: Departure: After breakfast transfer to the Interlaken West train station
