Visitors have been drawn to this coast since mythological times when ancient Greek mariners were said to have been drawn to this coastal paradise by the enchantment of Sirens. Discover the enchantments that later drew the Hollywood stars of the 50's to places like Amalfi, Positano and the Isle of Capri. This walking tour has been designed for travelers of all ages and fitness levels. You are able to daily choose from easy to moderate hikes; everyone can enjoy this tour regardless of your preferred walking pace and distance.
Day 1 & 2: "Sea of Sirens" & "City of Sweet Idleness" : After crossing the mysterious "Sea of the Sirens", we walk along the jutting Sorrento Peninsula through a quiet landscape of open coastal pathways, tufa crags & cliffs, terraced vineyards, citrus orchards and olive groves. On the Isle of Capri, once named the "City of Sweet Idleness" by the Emperor Augustus, we enjoy numerous vistas and the colors provided by the many flower gardens, sea grottoes and vegetation throughout this wondrous island.
Day 3 & 4: "Walk of Gods": Need we say more? This aptly named trail takes us through fields of wildflowers, groves of indigenous cypress, and staggering open-sea views. Then enjoy a route where the abandoned 16th century towers perched on the edge of vertical cliffs act as beacons for our walk through the wildest and most isolate part of the peninsula, leading to the surreal "Emerald Grotto". We enjoy 3 nights of ocean views from the terraced white-washed jewel of the Amalfi Coast--Positano.
Day 4 & 5: "Walk of Mills": The "Walk of the Gods" is a tough act to follow, but today's saunter may be up to the task. From medieval Ravello our trail leads far back into the lush mountainside where the torrential rains run down the valley and into Amalfi, thus supplying the power for the lucrative paper mills once so vital to the ancient maritime republic. Visit one of Europe's oldest working paper mills then stroll along palm-lined streets displaying treasures of Amalfi's past glory to the stunning Duomo.
Day 6: Ruins of Pompeii: During your transfer to Napoli train station we visit Pompeii, the opulent town buried but largely preserved by the volcanic eruption of 79AD.
