Day 6: Jasper, Alberta

Binoculars are a good idea for a close-up look at a wandering elk or two million-year-old glaciers. As the train twists and turns through the mountain landscape, it's like journeying back in time. Onboard you'll experience what it was like to explore Canada's west for the very first time, except that you get make the journey in far more comfort. Day 8: Vancouver, British Columbia
This morning, return to the Rocky Mountaineer Train for the second leg of your journey by the ‘big steel horse’ to Vancouver. Pass by roaring rivers and ruggedly breathtaking canyons. At Hell's Gate watch water torrent past the canyon walls at its narrowest point, a true highlight of the trip. Peach trees, orchards and vineyards will begin to dot the landscape as you pass through the Fraser Valley and arrive in the beautiful Ocean City of Vancouver. Day 9: Vancouver, British Columbia
