This West Coast adventure will take you from one of the world’s most beautiful cities, Vancouver, to the famous mountain village of Whistler – official site for Alpine and Nordic events of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. With its dramatic location seemingly suspended between the rugged Coastal Mountains and the waters of the Pacific Ocean, Vancouver is a modern, multicultural metropolis. Whistler village is nestled in those mountains at an elevation of 1.530m, and offers a plethora of outdoor activities as well as a pedestrian-only village reminiscent of European plaza culture, all this in an ideal West Coast climate.

Your Itinerary

Day 1: Vancouver, BC

Arrive at Vancouver International Airport. Following the tips and directions in your personalized travel journal, drive to your downtown hotel. It’s only a short stroll to the Harbour Center Tower where on a clear day views from the observatory are nothing short of breathtaking. You will see the glittering lights of the Lions Gate bridge which connects Stanley Park to Vancouver’s North Shore, the illuminated trails of Grouse Mountain and the ships moored in the Burrard Inlet. Vancouver is a compact city where many residents live and work within a small radius. It is also home to Stanley Park, North America’s largest city park with natural forest, gardens and family attractions. Today enjoy your first local experience of choice, including guided interpretive rainforest walk in Stanley Park. Perhaps this afternoon you will opt for a Trolley Tour allowing you to hop on and off at leisure, shopping along Vancouver’s “Rodeo Drive” or savor the atmosphere in one of the city’s numerous cafes. Day 3: Whistler, BC

Your drive to Whistler is one of the most scenic in Canada! The Sea to Sky Highway hugs the Coastal Mountains while the granite cliffs plunge into the blue ocean waters of Howe Sound below. Countless islands make for a natural obstacle course in this extension of the Pacific Ocean, where sailboats and windsurfers enjoy the quasi-constant breezes and eagles soar overhead spotting their next meal. This 120 kilometer (75 miles) drive can be stretched out all day, see the TidBits section of your travel journal for ideas of what to do along the way. Accommodation: Sundial Boutique Hotel (Deluxe Hotel Option), Four Seasons Resort Hotel (Premium Hotel Option);

What was once a small, remote fishing lodge, Whistler is now one of the finest four-season destinations in the world. Nestled in a valley surrounded by snow-capped mountains, Whistler is a friendly year round resort equally sought after by the thrill-seeker wanting to ride fully harnessed between the tree tops on the new zip-trek or by those looking to be pampered at one of the many spas or shopping the pedestrian-only village which combines European plaza culture and West Coast architecture. Top off your evening enjoying the finest contemporary Italian, tasty fish and game or one of the best steakhouses around. Accommodation: Sundial Boutique Hotel (Deluxe Hotel Option), Four Seasons Resort Hotel (Premium Hotel Option);

Day 5: Whistler, BC

Whistler is the starting point for your next local experience of choice. Perhaps you will choose to go trekking in lush alpine meadows dotted with wildflowers of yellow, red and purple. Accompanied by an experienced nature guide, you will find yourself surrounded by magnificent jagged peaks and pristine alpine lakes as you follow mountain trails, breathing in fresh mountain air and learning about this fragile ecosystem.
