Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival at Gongkar airport from Kathamndu. Transfer to Lhasa. Days 2 & 3: Visit of Potala, Drepung, Sera, Jokhang and Barkhor Market. Day 4: Lhasa - Ralung. Visit of Lake Yamdrok. Overnight: camp. Day 5: Ralung - Shigatse. Visit of Gyantse Old city, Kumbum, Pelkor Chode and Shalu, Shigatse Ganggyan hotel. Day 6: Shigatse - Sakya. Visit of Tashi Lhunpo Gonpa & Sakya Gonpa, Sakya hotel. Day 7: From Sakya to Tingri. Tingri hotel. Day 8: To rent yaks from Tingri (4390 m) and trekking to Lungjiang (4150 m) via Yalung Drok. The route begins at the bridge on the southeast edge of town and follows a well–graded cart track for most of the way to Lamma la (4880 m), there are 3 passes on the trail to Rongbuk, and the Lamma la pass is the highest. cross the wooden bridge to the east bank of the Rachu valley. To see Rachu valley, walking for 5 1/2 hrs. Overnight: camp. Day 9: Lungjiang to the base of Lamma la (4880 m) via Lamdu Drok. The area around this enclosure is the last good campsite before Lamma, grazing grass and water are nearby. Walk for 6 hrs. Overnight: camp. Day 10: From the base of Lamma la to Zangbo village (4790 m) at Rachu Valley, the highest permanent settlement in the Everest Region. Pass Lamma la, Lamma la also known as Zangpo la. The snowy peaks off to the south are the foothills of Gyanchung Kang (7922 m) and Cho Oyu (8153 m). Total trekking time: 6 hrs. Overnight: camp. Day 11: Zangpo to the highest monastery in the world Rongbuk Monastery (4980 m), lies near the foot of the Mount Everest. Total trekking time: 4 hrs. Overnight: camp. Day 12: From Dza Rongbuk explore to Everest Base camp (5150 m) and the Rongbuk Glacier are less than 2 hrs above the monastery. In the evening drive to Tingri for 5 1/2 hrs. Overnight: Tingri hotel. Day 13: Drive from Tingri (4390 m) to Siling Village which is located at the left-hand turn is the road to the northern Base Camp. A few kilometers beyond this junction is Selung (4690 m), the largest village in this region and the only permanent settlement en route to the Base Camp. All of the nearly fifty families residing here are herders; this is the place the hire yaks for expeditions climbing Shisha Pangma. Selung is also the source of some of the finest horses in Tibet. The Base Camp is another 15km from Selung around a ridge of barren hills. Overnight: tents. Day 14: Morning explore Shisha Pangma Base Camp (5330 m), over the road beyond Selung is not Shisha Pangma, but Gangbenchhan (7211 m), and its pointy neighbor Phola Gangchhan “Big Snow Grandfather” (7702 m) also finally come into view. Shisha Pangma (8046 m) is probably the least known of the world`s fourteen highest peaks, despite being only 80 km northeast of Kathmandu. In the evening return to Campsite. Day 15: Drive to Zhangmu over Nyalam Tongla (5120 m), and to drive 3 hrs from Selung. Overnight at Zhangmu Ganggyan hotel. Day 16: From Zhangmu down to Friendship Bridge and transfer to Kathmandu.
