Naturally, the Pacific Ocean becomes a focal point for West Coast visitors. Its vastness and mystique, the fresh scent of salt water, and the abundance of life surrounding the sea has drawn people for centuries. Our active vacation blends Vancouver’s popularity as a vibrant coastal city with Whistler’s famous mountain charm and a visit to Victoria on Vancouver Island. From sailing and sea kayaking to whale watching and seaplanes, be prepared to immerse yourself in the activities and experiences that have shaped our coastal culture for generations.

Your Itinerary

Day 1: Vancouver, BC

Arrive in Vancouver International Airport. Following the tips and directions in your personalized travel journal, make your way to your downtown hotel. A walk around famous Stanley Park or English Bay might be the perfect tonic after a long day of travel. Accommodation: Metropolitan Hotel (Deluxe Hotel Option), Fairmont Waterfront Hotel (Premium Hotel Option);

Day 2: Vancouver, BC

There's nothing like few hours in a sailboat to immerse yourself into the laidback lifestyle of the West Coast. Today you'll put out to sea and explore Vancouver's English Bay with the wind in your face and a chance to learn the basics of sailing. Accommodation: Metropolitan Hotel (Deluxe Hotel Option), Fairmont Waterfront Hotel (Premium Hotel Option);

Day 3: Whistler, BC

Whereas yesterday's water experience was powered by wind, today's sea kayaking adventure gets you up close and personal with the marine environment through your own power. The West Coast is an ocean kayakers’ paradise. Beautiful fjords flanked by steep mountain slopes are populated with marine wildlife of all shapes, sizes and colors. You may find curious Harbour Seals popping their heads up from their seaweed playground to follow your progress, or see Bald Eagles swooping overhead to survey their next meal. No experience necessary and all equipment is provided.

Later, you'll drive to Whistler along the spectacular Sea-to-Sky Highway, which hugs the Coastal Mountains while the granite cliffs plunge into the blue ocean waters of fjord-like Howe Sound below. The many small islands in the Sound make for a watery natural obstacle course for sailboats and windsurfers. Eagles catch the thermal currents overhead while circling to spot their next meal. Accommodation: Sundial Boutique Hotel (Deluxe Hotel Option), Four Seasons Resort Hotel (Premium Hotel Option);

Day 4: Whistler, BC

What was once a small, remote fishing lodge, Whistler is now one of the finest four-season destinations in the world. It's a great place to relax and enjoy the Coastal Mountains on a day at leisure. Perhaps you'll walk some of the beautiful trails, take a gondola to the top of a mountain for the stunning views, or take in the many shops and cafes of the Village (refer to your Travel journal for recommendations). Top off your evening enjoying a fine West Coast meal followed by a stroll on the European-like pedestrian plaza. Accommodation: Sundial Boutique Hotel (Deluxe Hotel Option), Four Seasons Resort Hotel (Premium Hotel Option);

Day 5: Victoria, Vancouver Island, BC

Enjoy the scenic drive to Horseshoe Bay and board the ferry to Vancouver Island. On the Island the highway to Victoria takes you past red-roofed barns, potters’ studios and Honey Farms. End the day with a relaxing stroll around Victoria’s Inner Harbour with the sun setting over the Pacific Ocean. Accommodation: Swans Suite Hotel (Deluxe Hotel Option), Fairmont Empress Hotel (Premium Hotel Option);

Day 6: Victoria, Vancouver Island, BC

Discover the whales today on our most popular West Coast experience. Resident pods of protected Orcas (Killer Whales) have been delighting visitors for years. Whales other than the Orca, such as Minke, Humpback and Gray Whales, can also be seen as they follow migration routes from the Baja to fertile feeding grounds off Alaska. Your responsible and whale-sensitive boat or zodiak excursion will take you to where they reside thanks to the vessels’ latest technology. Certified naturalists and/or marine biologists are on-board to help you learn more about these fascinating creatures. Accommodation: Swans Suite Hotel (Deluxe Hotel Option), Fairmont Empress Hotel (Premium Hotel Option);

Day 7: Return to Vancouver, then home

Today, return to Vancouver via a scenic floatplane flight that will include an eagle's eye view of downtown Victoria, Georgia Strait, and the Gulf and San Juan Islands. Catch your breath on a watery landing in downtown Vancouver harbour. Finish your trip in style with a chauffeured ride through the city to Vancouver airport. Prepare to share your memories with your family and friends as you start planning your next travel adventure.
