This 2 night tour of the south of England combines historic royal castles and palaces with magnificent English gardens. The route will take you along tiny country lanes and wonderful locations overlooking the rolling countryside of England.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1: 12.30 pm: after a full briefing on how to get the most out of your car, take the road southwest out of London towards Orpington. Then take the small country roads into Kent, in the direction of Sevenoaks and Penshurst Place, dating back to the 15th century. Then on to Sissinghurst Castle and Gardens. Overnight and dinner at the Eastwell Manor Hotel, Ashford. (D).
Day 2: Breakfast at the hotel and then take the road through the Garden of England to Rudyard Kipling's house at Burwash and then on towards the coast to the Georgian seaside town of Brighton, with its antique shops and tiny lanes. Then on again to Petworth House, one of the great houses of England. Take the road back to Royal Tunbridge Wells stopping for afternoon tea and then back to the hotel. Overnight and dinner at the Eastwell Manor Hotel, Ashford. (B/D).
Day 3: Breakfast at the hotel and then follow the road to Canterbury to visit the Cathedral. Then follow the route map which will take you to Rochester with its links to Dickens. Continue through Greenwich where you will pass the ancient Maritime College, Westminster with a view of the Houses of Parliament and arrive back at around 12.30pm. (B).
