Cycling on Transfagarasan alpine road, Bran Castle, Fagaras Mountains.
Day 1 - Otopeni airport in Bucharest - Sinaia (120 km)
Meet at Bucharest Otopeni airport. Transfer by van along the scenic Prahova valley, through the picturesque mountain resorts of Sinaia. Accommodation in hotel in Sinaia.
Day 2 - Rasnov Fortress
Cycle along the wide Prahova valley 20 kilometers to Predeal, then the road climbs through the Cold Creek pass. A wonderful 9 kilometers downhill follows through the dense pine forest, with multiple bends, and amazing views. Visit the 14th century fortress of Rasnov. Then 20 more kilometers to Moeciu. Accommodation in Moeciu.
Day 3 - Bran Castle
15 Kilometers from our accommodation. Further we cycle, 34 kilometers through the picturesque foothills of Fagaras Mountains. On the evening we arrive to the Diana Hotel in the Sambata Valley (Saturday valley). Depending on the arrival time we can attend to the evening service of the Sambata monastery (one of the most appreciated monasteries in Transylvania). Accommodation in Diana Hotel.
Day 4 - Uphill on the Transfagarasan
Visit the Sambata Monastery in the morning. Onward we start cycling uphill on the Transfagarasan alpine road. The scenic road ascends through the heart of the Fagaras Mountains, the highest road pass in Romania. Pass along the Balea waterfalls. Breathtaking views everywhere you turn your eyes. Accommodation in Balea Cabana at over 2000 meters high.
Day 5 - Downhill on Transfagarasan, Poenari fortress
Cross the tunnel on the other side of the Fagaras ridge. A massive downhill follows, passing several waterfalls, and amazing scenery. The road then follows the Arges valley, and along the Vidraru Lake. Just 3 kilometers away from the lake we will visit the Poenari fortress, the true vulture's nest of Vlad Dracula. Day 6 - Visit the Arges Monastery
It is the mythical church built by Manole's supreme sacrifice. Onward the route takes us to Campulung - first capital of the old Romanian province of Wallachia. After Campulung the road easily ascends, between the Bucegi mountains and Piatra Craiului mountains, passing through picturesque traditional villages. Accommodation in Podul Dambovitei.
Day 7 - The Fundata Pass
One of the most appreciated, road passes the Fundata Pass takes us back to Transylvania, on the old main route that used to connect the two Romanian provinces. Accommodation in Moeciu
Day 8 - Departure
Transfer to Airport in Bucharest
