Full day tour on day 2 with English speaking guide: This tour embarks on a journey through the turbulent past of South Africa by visiting Soweto (South Western Township). After the visit there is a break for lunch at a typical Shebeen. In the afternoon the tour stops over at the Apartheid museum, with excellent displays on the Soweto up-rising, ANC in exile, petty apartheid, solitary confinement, anti-apartheid movements abroad, sport boycotts, etc. 3 days category B vehicle rental with total cover insurance. All game viewing activities at the lodge including a sunset drive: enjoy sundowners in the bush, before continuing your safari with the aid of powerful spot-lights in search of the nocturnal game.
Your Itinerary:
Day 1: Meet on arrival in Johannesburg and transfer to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day to relax and recover from your flight. Overnight BB basis at the Rosebank Hotel.
Day 2: Enjoy a full day schedule tour. This tour embarks on a journey through the turbulent past of South Africa by visiting Soweto (South Western Township). After the visit there is a break for lunch at a typical Shebeen. In the afternoon the tour stops over at the Apartheid museum, with excellent displays on the Soweto up-rising, ANC in exile, petty apartheid, solitary confinement, anti-apartheid movements abroad, sport boycotts, etc Return to the hotel in the late afternoon. Overnight BB basis at the Rosebank Hotel.
Day 3: Enjoy a day at leisure in Johannesburg. Why not take an optional tour to the amazing Sterkfontein caves, these 2, 2 billion years old caves where great scientific discoveries have been made in the search for origins of humankind, situated in the World Heritage Site of Gauteng province. An anthropological treasure house of the world where the famous Mrs. Ples - the oldest and most perfect human skull in the world, 2, 5 million years old - was discovered in search for origins of humankind. Sites visited are some of the richest in Africa in human evolution. An enormous underground lake inside the caves is something that will stay with you forever. Overnight BB basis at the Rosebank Hotel.
Day 4: After breakfast your category B rental vehicle will be delivered to the hotel and you will set off northwards to your safari destination in the Waterberg Mountains. Arrival in time for lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon your will depart from the lodge with your qualified ranger in open 4x4 vehicles in search of Africa’s big game. Your ranger will help you make the most of your African safari by helping you in the spotting of game and explanation of the animal behaviour and the flora that abounds around you. At sunset enjoy sundowners in the bush, before continuing your safari with the aid of powerful spot-lights in search of the nocturnal game. Return to the lodge after your safari for dinner. Overnight on a full board basis at Entabeni Wildside Tented Camp. Included: (B), (L), (D).
Day 5: You will be woken early for your dawn safari on the reserve. The reserve is home to Africa’s famous “Big Five” – lion, elephant, leopard, rhino and buffalo. In addition there is a wide variety of other game on the reserve including zebra, giraffe, kudu, oryx and hippopotamus etc. Return to the lodge after your morning safari for breakfast. After breakfast enjoy time to relax by the pool and soak up the African sun before your second afternoon / evening safari. Return to the lodge for dinner, possibly in the “boma” beneath the African stars! Overnight on a full board basis at Entabeni Wildside Tented Camp. Included: (B), (L), (D).
Day 6: You will enjoy a final morning safari on the reserve before returning to the lodge for a hearty breakfast. Then depart from the lodge and travel south towards Pretoria and Johannesburg. Arrival in the early afternoon at Lesedi Cultural Village. After being shown to your room in one of the 5 “villages” you will meet your host “tribe” for the night. Later you will have a chance to visit some of the other villages to get a glimpse of alternative architectural styles and traditions from the other tribes in South Africa. As the sun sets congregate for an evening of traditional African song and dance around the fire and enjoy a hearty feast while basking in the beautiful voices of the African singers. Overnight on a bed and breakfast basis at Lesedi Cultural Village. Included: (B), (L), (D).
Day 7: After breakfast depart from Lesedi for some last minute shopping before your return flight to the USA or onwards connection to Cape Town.
