Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arriving at Sofia Airport and transfer to a hotel. Check in. Overnight in Sofia.
Day 2: Breakfast. Walking city tour of Sofia. In the afternoon – visit to the Boyana Church dated 12th century, a UNESCO site. Panoramic city tour includingthe National Archaeological Museum, the National Theatre, Russian Church St. Nikola, the Parliament Square, the St. Alexander Nevski Memorial Cathedral with the most valuable collection of Bulgarian Icons (13-19th c.), St. Sofia Church (6th c.), St. George Rotunda (4th c.), and the National Palace of Culture. Visit to the Boyana Church, included in the UNESCO list of the World Heritage and is considered a herald of the European Renaissance. These genuine masterpieces of the 13th century painting, created 200 years ahead of the beginning of the Western European Renaissance, mark a remarkable peak in the Eastern Christian Art. Overnight in Sofia.
Day 3: Breakfast. Departure for the Rozhen Monastery and visit to the complex. Continue to Melnik – the smallest town in Bulgaria, famous for its unique sandstone pyramids, traditional architecture, and delectable wines. Tour of the town with visit to the Kordopoulov’s – the biggest residential building on the Balkans from the Revival period, housing extraordinary mural paintings and an enourmous wine-cellar. Overnight in Melnik.
Day 4: Breakfast. Departure for the Rila Monastery - the most famous and the most fascinating monastery in Bulgaria, under the UNESCO protection. Tour of the monastery and visit to the monastery church, museum, and kitchen, known as Magernitza. The tour continues to Plovdiv. Overnight in Plovdiv.
Day 5: Breakfast. Tour of the Old Town of the city - an imposing open-air museum situated on the three hills of the ancient Trimontium. Visit the Ancient Theatre (a well-preserved Roman amphitheatre), the Ethnographic museum, and other interesting sites. In the afternoon: visit to the Bachkovo Monastery - the second largest monastery in Bulgaria. Continue to Kazanlak. Overnight in Kazanlak.
Day 6: Breakfast. Visit to the Museum of Roses and to the ancient Thracian Tomb. Departure for Veliko Turnovo. En route, visit the Etara – Bulgaria’s open-air museum of authentic traditional crafts and the Drianovo Monastery. Arrival in Veliko Tarnovo – the ancient capital city of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom. Overnight in Veliko Turnovo.
Day 7: Breakfast. Tour of Veliko Tarnovo town with visit to the medieval fortress of Tsarevets; the Old Marketplace, Samovodska Tcharshia; and other landmarks. In the afternoon: arrival in the village of Arbanassi. Visit to the Nativity Church and Konstantsaliev’s House. Visit the Petropavlovski Monastery. Overnight in Veliko Turnovo.
Day 8: Breakfast. Departure towards the Troyan Monastery. Tour of the complex. Continue to Sofia. Free time for leisure and shopping. Overnight in Sofia.
Day 9: Breakfast. Transfer to the airport. Departure
