Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Italy. Transfer on own to Grand Hotel Villa Cora, a five star deluxe hotel overlooking Florence. Built by the Baron Oppenheim in 1865, this fascinating residence has now been turned into an elegant Villa hotel - with an excellent restaurant, personalized service and a fabulous swimming pool. Afternoon and evening at leisure.
Day 2: Breakfast in hotel. After breakfast, transfer on own to Golf Club Poggio dei Medici, located in Mugello. This golf course has wide challenging fairways with protective greenside bunkers, providing a backdrop to the Appenine mountains. Surrounded by art and culture, the refurbished Medici style clubhouse is a delight.
Day 3: Breakfast in hotel. Transfer by private van, with English speaking driver to the first of two cooking lessons with lunch at Podere Le Rose in Gaiole in Chianti. Podere le Rose is a 13th century farmhouse turned into a cooking school by the DeMaris, a noble Tuscan family who have owned the property for centuries. Countess De Mari conducts the cooking lessons herself. Private van will return to the hotel after lunch. Afternoon free to enjoy the historic streets, shops and museums of Florence.
Day 4: Breakfast in hotel. Transfer on own to the Ugolino Golf Club for second round of golf. Situated just a few miles from Florence, Ugolino is one of the oldest courses in Italy. This beautiful course, designed by the architects Gannon and Blanford, winds through the Chianti countryside. It rewards accuracy and penalizes the errant golfer.
Day 5: Breakfast in hotel. A full day shopping trip, with a private van and English speaking driver, to the Gucci Outlet in Leccio and the Prada Outlet near Arezzo. Lunch in a typical Tuscan trattoria. Return to hotel in early evening.
Day 6: Breakfast in hotel. Transfer on own to Le Pavoniere Golf Club for the third and final round of golf. Opened in 1986, the course was designed by Arnold Palmer and built on land that was Lorenzo de Medici's favorite - with fields and water pools dating to the Renaissance. The clubhouse is in a magnificent 18th century Villa. This course is a demanding one - while beautiful, it takes full advantage of all the Medici lakes and streams.
Day 7: Breakfast in hotel. Transfer with our private van to Podere Le Rose for the second cooking lesson on the secrets of the Tuscan kitchen - conducted by the Countess DeMari. Return to hotel after lunch, in private van. Afternoon and evening at leisure.
Day 8: Breakfast in hotel. Departure for airport and return flight to US.
