If you would like to go back in time, then it is to Bwindi that you must travel. It has been said of this jungle “Here time has stood still” Bwindi is one of the few places in Africa that flourished during the last ice age. It is home to roughly half of the world’s mountain gorillas. This park also boasts of 90 mammal species, including 11 primates, of which the black-and-white colobus, with its lovely flowing white tail stands out.
This is the equatorial jungle. Here you will see towering trees, giant ferns, strangled undergrowth and hanging vines. The altitudinal range of mountain and lowland forest at Bwindi support more species of trees ferns, birds, and butterflies than any other forest in East Africa.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Trust tours and travels will arrange for you to leave Kampala early in the morning and head South West passing via the equator line. At the equator you can relax take pictures and learn about the line that divides the Northern and Southern Hemisphere. You will visit the famed Mpabire drum makers and then set off again to Mbarara for lunch.
From Mbarara Trust tours and travels will take you to Bwindi where you will see the beautiful terraces and hills of Kabale. You’ll arrive later in the evening. Dinner will be served at Buhoma Community Rest Camp where you will also spend the night.
Day 2: After the early morning breakfast you will be briefed by the guide. Finally the moment will be in sight the opportunity to go gorilla tracking. This activity can last a whole day or just a few hours depending on where the gorillas will be. The climax of the trip is when the gorillas are viewed at close range. So it’s hard to estimate how long it may take to track a gorilla. After this experience you will be ready for the hard earned rest.
Day 3: At day break you can visit the waterfalls or have a village walk and you will be amazed at what the village has got to offer or alternatively go for a self guided walk along one of the rivers in the forest and you will be in close contact with nature. You will then set off to Kampala arriving in the evening.
