Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Xian. Take a city tour including Shaanxi Historical Museum, the Great Mosque, one of the four biggest in Northwest China, and enjoy yourself in the Muslim street. Enjoy a special dumpling dinner. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 2: Xian/ Tianshui. Visit the amazing Terracotta Warriors, which was found in 1974 and gave the whole world a shock. In the afternoon, pay a visit to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. After dinner, take a train to Tianshui. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 3: Tianshui/ Lanzhou. The city tour includes the Maijishan Grottoes, one of the four most famous Buddhist grottoes in China, and Fuxi Temple. After lunch, drive to Lanzhou. Includes: (B), (L).
Day 4: Lanzhou. The city tour in Lanzhou includes Gansu Provincial Museum which hosts the flying-horse statue, Water-wheel Park, Zhongshan Iron bridge and White Pagoda Hill. Includes: (B), (L).
Day 5: Lanzhou/ Xian. Set out to visit Binglingsi Grottoes in the morning. It is about 80km from Lanzhou, there you are going to take a boat trip and enjoy the fine Buddhist statues in the peaceful valley. Then, drive across Linxia, the Muslim prefecture and on to Xian, Little Tibet. Includes: (B), (L).
Day 6: Xian. Full day visit Labrang Monastery, one of the six major Gelupa monasteries, arguably the biggest university of tibetanology. Includes: (B), (L).
Day 7: Xian/ Tongren. Drive to Tongren, known also as Repkon, it is a small town known for art. It's said that almost everyone can make Tangkha there. Visit Longwu Monastery and an art gallery to see how local people make Tangkha. Stay overnight at the small peaceful town. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 8: Tongren/ Xining. Drive to Xining, visit Kumbum Monastery, birth place of Tsongkapa, founder of Gelupa, it is also one of the six major Gelupa monasteries. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 9: Xining/ Zhangye. Drive to Zhangye, enjoy the picturesque scenery of Qilian Mountain, a heavenly mountain set apart Qinghai and Gansu Province. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the picaresque grassland. Visit Matisi Grottoes. Includes: (B), (L).
Day 10: Zhangye/ Jiayuguan. Visit Giant Buddha Temple which hosts the biggest indoor sculpture of sleeping Buddha, then drive to Jiayuguan, visit Jiayuguan Pass, the western terminal of the Great Wall. Includes: (B), (L).
Day 11: Jiayuguan/ Dunhuang. Drive 350km to Dunhuang, visit Echoing Sand Dune and Crescent Moon Spring, here you may have an experience riding a camel and have fun sliding on the sand dune. Includes: (B), (L).
Day 12: Dunhuang/ Turpan. Train. The morning trip takes you to Mogao Grottoes, the world-known museum, enjoying the fine art; in the afternoon, visit Dunhuang Museum. After dinner, take an overnight soft sleeper train to Turpan. Includes: (B), (L).
Day 13: Turpan. Arrive in Turpan in the morning. Visit to this oasis city includes Gaochang Ruined City, Flaming Mountain, Suleiman's Minaret and the Grape Valley, lunch is served in a local restaurant. Includes: (B), (L).
Day 14: Turpan/ Urumqi. In the morning, visit Astana Tombs, where the ancient people of the Gaochang city are buried. Then explore the Karez Well, an irrigation system of wells connected by underground channels and is considered as one of the three great ancient projects in China. Drive to Urumqi in the afternoon. Visit Xinjiang Museum to get a good information. Stay overnight. Includes: (B), (L).
Day 15: Urumqi/ Kashgar. Today you will visit the picturesque Heavenly Mountain and also have a boat trip on the Heavenly Lake, take an evening flight to Kashgar, a fabled city with a rich mix of people and cultures. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 16: Kashgar. Visit the big Bazaar where you may have a good purchase. In the afternoon the tour takes you to the vast Id Kah Mosque and the tomb of Abakh Khoja in the country lanes. Includes: (B), (L).
Day 17: Kashgar/ Urumqi. In the morning you visit a school, and a workshop where traditional carpet are made. You also tour the old town, a warren of twisting alleys and whitewashed walls, in a donkey cart taxi, in the evening you fly back to Urumqi. Includes: (B), (L).
Day 18: Urumqi. End of service. Includes: (B).
