Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Depart from Pretoria/Johannesburg towards Golden Gate. We travel towards Golden Gate reserve via the following towns Heidelberg, Suikerbosrand nature reserve the valley of the well-known writer, Eugene Marais. Villiers, a Free State town on the banks of the Vaal river. Bethlehem, this town is situated on the foothills of the Maluti Mountains. We visit the Golden Gate Park that overlooks the south-eastern Free State and Lesotho and enjoy the breathtaking beauty of this mountain park. Possible overnight at PH Golden Gate Hotel.

Day 2: Golden Gate towards Drakensberg. On our way towards a Drakensberg resort we can visit the Free State town of Harrismith situated on top of the Drakensberg Mountains. We pass the Sterkfontein dam towards the impressive Eskom’s Tugela Hydro electric power station, a tour through this power station is a possibility. We enjoy the beauty of the Drakensberg. We can visit the following places of interest: Royal Natal National Park, the 2nd highest waterfall in the world. Mont Aux-Sources, The source of the Gariep River, South Africa’s largest river, which flows into the Atlantic Ocean & the source of the Tugela River, one of KwaZulu-Natal’s large rivers, witch flows into the Indian Ocean. Cathedral Peak, Cathkin peak, Champagne Castle and many more. Possible overnight at Didima Lodge.

Day 3: Drakensberg towards Durban. We travel via the Spioenskop dam; we can visit the battle of Spioenskop. Ladysmith, we can visit Plat rand, many battles took place here during the Anglo-Boer war. Howick, Midmar dam & Howick waterfall. Pietermaritzburg, one of KwaZulu-Natal’s capitals, some Voortrekker remembrance and beautiful buildings. We could drive through the valley of a 1 000 hills towards Durban, with its golden mile, astonishing buildings and golden, sunny beach & possible overnight at the PH Edward Hotel.

Day 4: Durban towards Hluhluw. Overnight at Hluhluwe. A Durban City tour if possible. At Umhlanga you can visit the Natal Sharks Board. Near Balito are the first sugarcane press, its here that it all started. At Chaka’s Rock you can witness the rock, partly in the sea, where the coward impi’s of King Shaka had to jump into the sea, those who survived was accepted. Next door is Salt Rock where King Shaka’s people use to scrape salt from the rocks which he traded to passing ships. At KwaDakuza or better known as Stanger you can find the grave of King Shaka and a museum. Near Eshowe at Dhlinza forest is the first walkway in the canopy of a forest in South Africa. We could overnight at the peaceful Leopard Mountain Lodge nestled on a private game reserve.

Day 5: Hluhluwe. Overnight at Hluhluwe. After breakfast we travel towards St. Lucia. A visit to the Umfolozi & Hluhluwe park before we head towards St. Lucia, a trip with a boat on the Lake is also possible if time permits before we return to the peaceful Leopard Mountain Lodge nestled on a private game reserve.

Day 6: Hluhluwe towards Swaziland towards Kruger Park. Overnight at Kruger Park. On our travel we cross the border post into Swaziland with its friendly people and beautiful, clean landscapes. We have to cross the border posts to overnight in Mpumalanga into Kruger Park where we will enjoy the beauty of nature; visit some campsites in the park, game viewing at its best.

Day 7: Kruger Park. Overnight at Kruger Park. A full day of game viewing inside Kruger Park.

Day 8: Kruger Park towards. Private Bush Lodge. Overnight at Private Bush Lodge. A full day of enjoyable game spotting with all the beauty of nature. We could overnight at the exquisite Porcupine private Bush Lodge situated next to Kruger Park

Day 9: Private Game Reserve towards Sabie. Overnight at Sabie. We will have an early morning game drive and after breakfast we travel past the town of Hoedspruit and enter the Drakensberg through the Strijdom tunnel to view the Blyderiver canyon with all its beauty or we could travel via the town of Haziview, known as SA’s banana capital, and Kowyn’s pass towards Graskop and the Blyderiver canyon. A possible visit to the old gold mine town of Pelgrim’s Rest before we could overnight at the well known Böhm’s Zeederberg Country House.

Day 10: Sabie towards Johannesburg. Overnight on the airplane. After breakfast we visit the town of Sabie, known as South Africa’s forestry capital. On our way towards Lydenburg, and its attractions, we cross the Long Tom Pass and its historical sites. After lunch we meet up with the N4 Hi-way, near the town of Belfast, one of Mpumalanga’s coldest towns, and then we will travel towards Johannesburg International Airport for your flight back home.
